Zeiss make optical lenses (Glass) & digital sensor(to convert light into electrical pulses) both.
Engineers at the Nokia's Camera Division & Zeiss team, together they both developed the current camera module of the Nokia 8.
Though i would have liked a bigger sensor from Nokia.
1.12um seems small. Let's see how it performs in the real world.

Not bad, cause nothing has gone from normal smartphone(like 3.5), but they added nothing aswell. Basically they sell 1+5 for the way higher price and that is dissapointing.
For the people, who complain about big size - you can buy Mi6, honor 9, p10 exactly for that reason.
But i still prefer Note FE/S8/1+5 over every other smartphone this year.

IF i were one of the designer, I'd go for the "nostalgia" thing Nokia has been using for TRASH 3310 and equip the 8 with 41 MP from the 808 and updated it with the algorithm used in Lumia 1020, and add new features like OZO audio to complement the already excellent camera, NOT going the DUAL-CAMERA gimmick and use MID-RANGE camera sensors made in 2015 which BLATANTLY shows how OVERPRICED ALL Nokia phones are!
p.s even the aging Mi5s which below US$300 are using IMX378, the same sensors as Pixels!

Rest everything is fine.
Ozo audio in mobile is a good innovation althhough, lets see how the camera performs.

IF u want to boast about the old Nokia camera, think again.
They ONLY TWICE make great camera phone (808 pureview & Lumia 1020), the rest of Nokia phones camera are just mediocre with exceptional Zeiss lenses.
The ones who TRULY made great camera phones was Sony Ericsson. They made great camera with good details, introduces Xenon flash, introduced CCD sensors, and constantly introduced higher resolution camera annually. I once have SE Satio and compare it with my friend's n86 camera. The result? Satio utterly crushed n86, in all aspects.
Not to mention, SE has been giving the best battery type at that time, lithium polymer, which is more durable & long lasting that the ion version, which nokia persistently use to cut corners in production costs.
another great thing from SE is, they included a good quality headset out of the box, especially for the walkman phone series. the good build, combined with the esxellent sound quality made buying a SE phone unforgettable memories, as the Sony now are different from the once great SE which combine europe & asian taste when making every phone.

My $370,00 XA1 Ultra has better sensor.
Taking Z2 Play back to store and getting XA1U was a great choice.
I feel so glad and satisfied.
