no matter what optics you put in there, the software should also be good to get the best images. pixel is supported by google, i(whatever-app) in idevices is supported by apple. so photos in pixels & iphones will always be superior.

I guess the weather during this photoshoot was overcast. Assuming it wasn't a bright sunny day, the camera has done superbly in my opinion. In brightly lit conditions we should expect even better photos. So we should wait for more photo comparisons before outright rejecting this cam.

It's all thanks to the image stacking. If all phones did that at all times, with like 5+ images at the same time, then we'd have awesome camera phones all over.

I have studied photography and I know what cell phone cameras are capable of in all types of lightings. I have owned so many DSLRs and cell phones so I know what I'm talking about. You can tell if a camera is good by these types of landscape / city pictures. You can't tell if a camera is good if it's taking a close up picture of someone as nearly all cameras take great close up and macro pictures.
I'm sure the final version will be more optimized but I don't think it will be up to Nokia's standard. I believe Nokia will wait for the future to bring something revolutionary (like the 808 and 1020).

In the dullest of weather my Cannon struggles a little to make the best of shots. Most do.
So to be honest, all things considered it is great. Love to see the vibrancy of colors and textures on a sunny day.

Yes, yes, weather and all. But as someone who's been using Lumias for the last few years, I'm used to, and was expecting better results. Feels like a mid-ranger at most.

The specs of the camera hardware was average on paper and I'd say the results are in accordance.
But it's miles away from the likes of the S8/U11/pixel because it's sensor is quite small coupled with a f/2.0 aperture. The hardware tells the whole story.
Hope they have some other headline features to attract people because the camera doesn't seem to be one of its strong sides along with the display.

Shots are great considering camera abilities, but it cannot beat the likes of U11/XZP. Big sensor and aperture is a must for flagships. You can almost feel that cold colors.

It is way simpler, but my Z3c can use both same time.
