Merwyn Fernandes, 21 Aug 2017Simple words Sharp is not as popular a company as Xiaomi Th... moreOh i see, so all the credit goes for the one that actually makes something popular? Even if its not reflected by sales?

Then i hope everybody here could just stop saying that the ARkit on the new iphones its just a copy from sony... as Apple is going to be the one that put it on the map big time.

" sharps bezeless was hideous with the large bottom chin/bezel "
What would you expected back then? The onscreen buttons werent popular, nor the tech need to save space inside.

And its the third one. Sharp made TWO AQUOS.

"and showed people that bezeless can be a daily driver"
So both AQUOS were beta/bug riddle experiences? Because appart of being mid range, they were pretty ok for that time.

And i dont know if you are a Xiaomi Fan or what, but you are given them a lot of credit.

I said at least 50% of the people that know Samsung [ That is out of the 100% of people that know Samsung including your aunty in Mexico and all the other people who own phones read newspapers browse the internet or associated with the media in any way ] exits also known that Xiaomi as a company also exits

Man the simple fact of matter is not even 100% of people in the world know Samsung exits [ The tribes in Africa , Amazon Forests and the people who cant afford electronics or associated with any kind of media also tribals in mexico ]

There is nothing in world that exists that is known buy 100% of the worlds population especially when it comes to electronics and brands

Here 50% of the people are just the percentage who own smartphones and know something about technology in which if 100% know Samsung at least the 50% of Samsung fan base know about Xiaomi

China and India are half of the worlds population and they know that Xiaomi exits and that already makes it 50%

I sent my S8+ back to Amazon because of the 18.5:9 ratio AND the curved edges (it made it very hard to properly grip the phone), and was waiting for the MiMix2 and its Sharp-like look according to the leaks. Lo and behold, the MiMix2 was an S8+ in disguise all along. I'll have to look elsewhere then, meh.

I was merely pointing out Samsung are the ones to have made the "Bezelless" design popular worldwide, not Xiaomi as they are small fish and not a well known brand worldwide (they are known among phone enthusiasts like us and certain regions like China/India).

Samsung and Apple are the top dogs and known by everyone worldwide, yes including my aunty in Mexico.

To claim that Xiaomi are half as known as Samsung worldwide is false and comical and not a "100% fact" I'm afraid.

Also if Samsung is known worldwide it doesn't mean they invented something

Also I don't think you went to mexico to take an interview with your aunty or grandmom and asked her whether she knows Samsung

50% of the people that don't know Xiaomi won't know Samsung either [ Don't think a Granddad and an aunty in mexico who know about Samsung and I am 100% sure about that ]

Your are just a blind Samsung fan that calls anything that Samsung does innovation and anything that other brands do a copy

I don't see many phones in the Xiaomi line that lookalike other brands phones

Merwyn Fernandes, 21 Aug 2017Simple words Sharp is not as popular a company as Xiaomi Th... moreThe Mi Mix wasn't a worldwide mainstream phone. Only visitors to this site who hold an interest in phones would know about it.

Samsung S8 is the first phone considered from most people (the average aunty that still has a buttoned nokia in mexico knows about the "Unbox your phone" Samsung) wordwide as the first "bezelless" phone. Simply because it is a big household name and Xiaomi's Granddad worldwide.

The G6 isn't even as well known household name around the world even though that had a worldwide release.

So while you may be correct in saying the Aquos didn't make the bezelless phone popular worldwide neither did the Mi Mix (only among phone enthusiasts and prople in China where the brand is known). Neither did the G6, it was the S8 and S8+.

First they copied the Sharp (Aquos) design. Now they copy Samsung (s8) even down to the poster/ad design. They are just a copycat company. Samsung will be known as the first wordwide mainstream phone that "Unboxed your phone".

Doesn't matter who copied who, as long as we, the consumers, win in the end. Right? What matters is that the industry competes to earn our loyalty (and money) and delivers something better with each generation of products.

Xiaomi was the company that created a craze for a bezeless phones after mi mix after which there was g6 and s8 sharp as a company didn't have the power to make that feature mainstream also sharps bezeless was hideous with the large bottom chin/bezel Mi mix was the first phone to have a proper bezeless display with a small chin

And where did your dumb third phone logic come from every phone after sharp aquos crystal basically copied it
Be it Mi Mix , S8 or G6 or the father of all copies that iPhone

Mi was the first of all of them to refine the bezeless design they were the second company to do it and they did bezeless well and showed people that bezeless can be a daily driver

Hence everything that came after that were inspired or copies of the sharp who created the design and Mi who refined it

Not the third fourth and fifth phone and all that nonsense of yours

Also the debate here was that Xiaomi copied Samsung but actually its the other way around that Samsung always copied other brands

Not as fancy because of the materials used, but pretty much the same shit (flat back, curved back-side)

And sorry man but I REALLY dont get your logic. If you reléase a phone 5 months before two other phones had something similar you are mainstream? But if its more time, dont?
Then, Samsung introduce the big screens but wasnt mainstream cause it took more than a year before everybody else grow theirs?
The same with the original iPhone. Its not mainstream because their first serious competitor (htc dream) took over a year and a half to came out to the market?

                                ...

And Oh please! Keep saying that Samsung copy the THIRD bezel-less phone ever, that way everybody could say in a couple weeks that the iPhone 8 copy the S8 (or G6), cause... you know, you copy just a phone before not the first one.

Don't tell me sharp cause it's not mainstream and Samsung didn't introduce a bezeless phone as soon as sharp did it
                                    Sharp did bezelss in 2014

Xiaomi did it in 2016 [ A proper bezeless display with a small Chin unlike sharps huge bottom bezzel ]

Samsung copied sharp and Xiaomi in 2017

But they did so after Xiaomi did it

Who did it first and who copied whom on what exactly?

The curved back (as stupid as it sounds) or the bezel-less screens? Cause you are mixing both.

If the first... seriously, dont know who can said ANYONE invented that. Again, a lot of phones have curves, on the back, on the sides, frontal, since a long time ago. I think its called ergonomics.

If the second, we all know it was Sharp who did it first, so both Xiaomi and Samsung copied it. No point on bringing it again.
