TSMC is the manufacturer, not Samsung. So can't it produce more chips for Qualcomm?
If not. it means that all of TSMC's capacity would be utilised - and this means that all of the other SoC designers that use TSMC for manufacturing would be affected (delayed) by this - Mediatek and HiSilicon (Huawei) for example.

Nice strategy Samsung. Buy all the SD chipsets and force them to pursue alternatives like yo very own exynos chips.

AnonD-13321, 21 Aug 2017Non-competitive practises to be expected from a horrible company. Why are those practices non-competitive? Samsung offers the best price, Qualcomm sells. I don't like all this either, but that's how free markets work.

"sending them to Samsung Electronics, which pushed others to resort to using the older chipset" we will see it again next year...Qualcomm gets more and more frustrating, they are nothing more than Samsung's puppet.

This won't end well for Qualcomm. Every big smartphone maker will be forced to build their own socs and turn their back on them.

I believe that Samsung are in the wrong by doing this. There must be some kind of Watchdog out there to stop this from happening? There have been lawsuits to stop similar things happening in the past - turning in to a monopoly and stopping other companies from competing in a fair market.

This can't be true right? Somewhere in May there were reports that LG will work together with Qualcomm on the SD845.

no big deal. the exynos is better in the CPU part, only lagging in GPU. additionally, it isn't much better than the 835 as the process node remains at 10nm.
