Sorry, the ''facts'' mentioned about the hardness of titanium are not true. Pure titanium is soft, super ductil and can be scratched easliy. Titanium Grade 5 performce a bit better but is still soft compared to Gorilla glas...

AnonD-393912, 30 Aug 2017Good news for you, it is gorgeous, have decent battery life... moreThe screen is tack sharp and looks better than my S7, the S7 whites look dirty, I did a video test with both phones, the PH-1 had better more natural color reproduction, the greens and colors are lush on the PH-1 while there is also no banding in certain scenes like with OLED displays, mostly night sky and bright day sky, this has always been an issue with AMOLED/OLED/PDP's "they have gotten better, but it's still there", displays using phosphorus diods. The PH-1's blacks are black not gray, the screen looks great, I have no regrets. I played this video on both phones at 50% brightness with adaptive brightness off. I preferred the PH-1 picture, the colors where lush and the skin tones looked natural. The camera takes nice pictures "and it's not all reviewers", certain reviews have done a piss poor job, it's understandable they know where their money comes from, Samlag and Apple. I used this camera app which has done wonders for the camera. Essential will eventually fix it, as it's software related, not hardware related.

But that screen if subpar compared to other flagship (AMOLED, OLED, Apple's LCD) and the camera is currently stated as the worst one in flagship grade.

AnonD-434295, 28 Aug 2017Those front camera really drives my OCD!! ARGHHHH!!!! The front camera is where it is supposed to be "centered",
all other phones have it in the wrong location, this is the first company that figured out how to place the front camera in the correct location without interfering with the top speaker.

However, just look at it once more. Gorgeous design which surpasses all other phones. I don't care about water proofing, MIL-STD or other paper-specs. I care about compactness, battery life, screen quality, processing power, and maybe the camera (for me it doesn't, for others it does, a lot). These are the things that really matter to daily use.

It also raise a question for the essential with its titanium marketing and yet not ipxx or mil-std certification. Considering Gizmodo manage to dent/chip their unit in a single fall, is it all cosmetic?
