Ηowever interesting it may be i can not see how new companies hope to succeed with prices north of 700€. It may be special but it's also hugely expensive.

All that work and it comes with a little battery and no wireless charging because it needed to be made out of titanium to drive up the premium price. I looks cool and I like the idea. I just think it falls a little short sighted... OnePlus does this a lot better with a much lower price point. If they would just add some dang wireless charging!

And the Sharp Aquos S2 has lame diagonal-cut corners, covered by a wallpaper. It doesn't even count :)

Extra Kudos for G6 design for having bezeless design and still manage to carry ip68 and MIL-STD 810G certification. You have to get the S8Active if you want the MIL-STD 810G in samsung.
G6 also noted for having better camera, audio, and still have micro-sd and headphone jack. Tough it is still 821 instead of the 835.

Problem being the titanium frame seems to be embedded-in/sandwiched by flimsier plastic/ceramic frame.
It won't be a problem if its a single block titanium body like HTC with their single block aluminum flagship or the titanium cover the entire sides (without plastic/ceramic sandwich), but well...

The Essential phone is one of the most interesting ones from the 1st half of 2017, I hope they keep their promises and the titanium+ceramic combo is that durable to drops.

This phone looks unfinished. Hideous front with distracting camera window in the middle of the screen at the top. Bad camera. Lackluster specs for a highend smartphone. No essential features whatsoever (pun intended). There's no redeeming quality other than the hype surrounding this phone before release.

Once the iPhone 8 will launch, the Essential will be the closes Android design that will match the iPhone 8, and so it will sell like hot cakes. Nothing can come close to its design right now, every other phone looks outdated.

Well, essentially you can get the solid build Nokia 8 (bezels are for sturdiness...)
with slightly smaller screen, better audio/mic's, same - MEDIOCRE camera - for around 150$ less ...

That's very interesting - the same peoole who says crappy Nokia 8 for 700$ is cheap and literally miracle saying here that better specs and much better design and components for the same price is nothing worth to buy. Essential is one of most noticable phone of the year, especially for this price. Not fake nokia or overhyped oneplus.
