Sorry for double post, can't stand sony choices in terms of battery capacity in XZ1. Sony you should really consider firing old engineers and hiring new one if they put SAME battery in both these phones. Is it not obvious bigger brother will suck battery faster than smaller? XZ1 SHOULD have at least 3000 mah, wth???

Compact looks good. I have no issues with plastic build if its high quality and sturdy. My x compact is sturdy, but the plastic scratches too easily, hopefully they improved that. Shaving a millimetre of width off is also nice.

Anonymous, 31 Aug 2017"better design" lmao please. So you think a phone with sharp edges and large bezels is better designed than a phone that has overall smaller footprint/higher screen-to-body ratio and has rounded corner and edges for better handling? Sony phones have bad ergonomics.

AnonD-584268, 31 Aug 2017leave drugs!! S7 is a phone obsolet.
No have usb type c... moreThe S7 (edge) has just been awarded "best smartphone" in MWC 2017. And it's still selling at 400+ dollars after one and half years. Meanwhile, Sony Xperia XZ which is not even one year old has already been phased out and has two successors already. That's the definition of obsolete.
- USB Type-C has no real benefit atm other than for charging and connection which can be done with microUSB anyway.
- S7's SuperAMOLED screen is very sharp and looks just fine in VR. No loss in detail whatsoever.
- Sony's stereo speakers are quieter than S7's single loudspeaker so that's barely an advantage.
- S7 has high resolution audio and even has better .
- XZ1's camera is the same as the XZP which takes worse image/video than the S7. Also, it has no OIS and slomo is limited only to a few seconds.

Finally found a flagship which might be worthwile to get. While both of these very solid. I will get the Xperia XZ1, because I cant get lower than 5.0inch screen, also compact doesnt have metal uniboby, finally it only has 32GB internal storage probably thats the worst part of it
On other hand compact has one advantage too, in that only 720p screen therefore even better performance and battery lasting more.
Still in the end I have to go for Xperia XZ1 But Compact is great for those who always wanted a small flagship

XZ1 Compact is a welcome sight, 2 years after the last compact Sony flagship, the Z5 Compact. Good battery capacity for it's screen. Android 8.0 Oreo is another bonus delight.
But what's the logic behind keeping the same 2700 mAh battery for the larger 1080p screened XZ1?
And such minor updates to the design, won't cut it, especially in today's world of bezel-less phones. Sony's needs a major new design, before it loses more customers and sales to other flashier-looking phones.

ComeOnX, 31 Aug 2017Do the compact needs a sd835? It will hike up the pricing. ... moreA compact device needs EXACTLY the same as a large device. The only difference is the size - as simple as that!
A compact device will usually be held closer to the eyes than a larger device, so it is 'just' a matter of scale, and what fits the individuals hands and arms.
Sony (of all) knows this very well, as SonyEricsson in 2011 launched three (well four) devices that apart from trifles were identical less the physical size.
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3972&idPhone2=3734&&idPhone3=3619
(They had a fourth as well, that was identical to the mid sized one, but with an added QWERTY keyboard)
...And what in 2011 was seen as an almost grotesquely huge device would today with its 63mm be seen as a compact. Funny development. *LOL*
