Hopefully the XZ1 Compact will be officially available in the Philippines (the X Compact wasn't officially available, only through resellers w/o official warranty), because I'll be buying an iPhone 7s instead if it won't be available. I don't want to buy a Sony phone w/o official warranty.

The only phones that I trust are Sony Compact phones or (non-plus sized) iPhones. Samsung's UI still bloated, LG still has that bootloop issues plus bloated UI as well, and I don't care about those Chinese brands (except maybe OnePlus).

DenisXD, 31 Aug 2017Sony Z3 3000mah, Sony Z3+ 2930mah, Sony Z5 and XZ 2900mah, ... moreI am also disappointed with the XZ1 but the compact delivered the punch. The XZ1 is also a bit big for me since I have small hands and the 2700 mah on the XZ1 is very disappointing but is okay in the compact's case.

XZ1 seems ok nothing major but being one of the few devices with Oreo out of box but XZ1 Compact though great again 720p resolution seems underwhelming. Rest seems all round package only but the current trend of minimum bezel phones, I wish Sony starts experimenting with the design soon. Hope they are not late. Pricing will be the key for this duo and let's wait for an official review to judge how worth are these

"LTE is rated at Cat. 15, despite the identical chipset, and the USB Type-C port is only backed by a USB 2.0 connection"

why oh why did you gut the compact this way? i really don't understand why the compact has USB 2.0 not 3.0 like the regular XZ1.
that's close to stupid decision by sony

Do the compact needs a sd835? It will hike up the pricing. How about a x1compact with sd625 and price like the xa1.

                To several:

I said FHD, not 4K, and 319dpi is mediocre in 2017, sorry guys.

The limit of what dpi the eye can see is related to the viewing distance. I have tried to teach people this again and again. Take a simple test of your own eyes, and I bet almost all of you would get a lower limit of the details you can see finer than 1/100000 of the viewing distance. And unless you got EXTREMELY long arms, you will normally operate a phone/phablet closer than 30" from your eyes.

I'm not saying that is is NEEDED, but it is certainly not worthy of anything that should pretend to be in the flagship range in 2017

Try e.g. this very simple image on a phone, phablet, tablet or pc...

Three tries and Sony still failed to match Samsung's last year Galaxy S7 flagship. The S7 is still ahead of this XZ1 in specs and features.

Unless GSM know something not on the live streame "Sony Xperia XZ1 to be available globally a week or two into September (likely September 17)" they said will start shipping it next week.

Can't wait for the durability tests on the compact. Hopefully it doesn't fall apart like the z3c. Maybe I'll give sony another chance if it does well.

Eske Rahn, 31 Aug 2017...And giving the compact just a 720p display is a VERY bad... moreDude it's the most powerful compact phone for it's spec, the closest rival currently is the 2016 iPhone SE, its screen is not even a 720p HD, what's the point? 720p screen is perfect for less than 5 inches.

If i had enough money to bought one of em, i"ll buy the compact
