N95 is whe worst phone I have ever spend my money on, got it for two weeks and sold it for only 3/4 of the price, that's how much pissed i was wit it. Went back wit my SE K750i. Slow, Media Player slider that don't start media player straight but have to start the short cut menu !! that takes 10 seconds. Bluetooth reception sucks, battery unpredictable, it goes on and on and on ... this is a original Zitron set, send it to Nokia Care thay cannot do anything about it, posted to Nokia no response !!! CRAP Sorry but just CRAP.

I love the M600 and the P990i. But with the m600, i don't have the camera and the p990i was too big. Now, I found the perfect phone in the markt. Thanks to Sony Ericsson..

            Dear SE users,
kinda pitty, eh? So no analogue yet that will hit the market with N95 specifications, lets wait till october/november, oh, here comes the xmass and etc, huh ?:)
That P1 is already old, it just (yeah, i admit that body looking kinda nice) cannot be new device - S60 9.1 UIQ3.0, at least there should be UIQ3.1, and talking about processor - sorry, i cant find similar word to expess mie feelings.
Ok, wait some more time, and more, and more... =)

            nothing personal

              To the ignorant posters who have slashed the N-95;

I would like to see another phone on the market with the fps and video quality that the n95 comes up with?
ok the cameras on the n-series havent always been the best, but my canon selphy prints the photos out just as well as my k800i, On top of that, the whining about the battery life and stability needs to stop, it does not affect every n95, mine has been stable for a month now, no freezing, lagging, crashing etc etc.
Now before the laudable denials come rushing back in, i was a sony ericsson man, iv had everything from the k500i to the w950i, i still am a sony ericsson man and proud of it, and i have always despised the n series for its problematic run (i work in carphone, its annoying dealing with n series software upgrades all day) but so far the n95 i have in my pocket hasnt had a single problem.
the battery life is not such tht i have to charge it twice a day either, usually with my use (3000 txts a month, plus calls, plus net, plus gps) i charge every 2 days. i cant fault that because the n95 packs so much into one little device, i say good on nokia.
And no one can fault that screen.

Yes the GPS does take 4-5 minutes to lock on to the phone but after that its right as rain, as long as u disable network usage ;)
There are always complaints about every model on the market, find me a phone that everyone who has ever owned one has not complained about and i will smother my n95 in chocolate sauce and eat it. nokia has problems with the n-series FACT, every n series has a problem FICTION, it took millions of years of evolution for something as complicated as the human body to evolve and work, give nokia a chance the nseries came out 2 years ago at most eh? they will get it right.

I hope this helps people, and please, consider the facts, dont feed the fiction.

P1i is very good I think. Too late on market tho...
Please don't compare P1 to nokia, it's so stupid. I.e. N95 is already selling and has 5MP camera, GPS, poverfull processor and vga video recording. P1 is not competitor for N95, it's obvious.
P1 is competitor for NOKIA E61i, MOTOROLA Q9, SAMSUNG i600.
And now think: E61i and i600 are selling already for months, with price of 400 euro. features are similar with p1 except camera. Do you need to wait till 3rd quarter and pay more just for camera?

And one more thing: SE symbian phones p990 and m600 were most returnable due software bugs and mediocre ergonomics, and P1 is not huge improvement over these...

Hey, thanks guys the review was really good. I currently own Motoming (A1200) and it's good feature rich phone. I had planned to go for P990i before it, but dropped the plan because of the RAM problem reported on many sites, reading people reviews, I figured the problem was the HARDWARE. So I decided to go for Motoming, there are few things that are buggy in it, namely - 8MB RAM, NO Call Recording, No keys, Limited software.

Well I think SE takes care of all these things in this phone, and I'm sure that this is going to be my next phone. :)

                    1 Last thing, You didn't mention about WLAN is it 802.11b or g ? I've crossed my fingers, I hope it's G :)

Carl Zeiss optics!!! hahahaha You make me laugh, only the foolish people believe in nokia and cz lens; the n73 pics are a lot worse than k800, ¿¿¿¿what DSC in the world can claim to be the best if it take OVERSATURATED and noisy pictures????? tell me one... only one!!! In the camera phones is the same, with a unreal picture hahaha... How to say that the N73 is the best, or at least in the level of the k800!?!?.
Yes, the P1 it isnt in the market now, but you have a lot of pics in the review. You can watch these pics. Or not?? and take into account that its beta firmware.
N95 great package of functions, with average quality pics (the 5MP with CZ dont mean best quality nokia fans, its clear), with average sound quality... and with the worst battery life in the world!!!!! The joke of the year, a phone that you will charge twice a day!! well, the awful N80 is in the sky in this department!!!
The excellent k750 dont need the CZ lens to be the king of camera phones, nokia camera sensors are made by toshiba when the SE camera sensors are made by sony; that is the diference.

Well, the n95 and the P1 cant be compared because are totally different phones, and the new firmware of p990 is a lot more stable and fast but the truth is that the p1 is built in the m600/w950 basis, it means A LOT MORE STABLE, if this is your problem.

What is the problem with the processor, the n73 has 300+Mhz processor, but is slow and laggy; or not?? the p1 has more RAM and OS more economical than S60 in the memory case

                      Finally, the p1 is the best between the 3,2MP smartphones without any doubt;

Great phone... if you're a fashion victim.

This is the kind of phone to have if you care more about how you look holding it than how the phone actually works.

SE have simply repackaged the problematic P990i into a stylish-looking phone without offering up any significant functional improvements. It seems SE isn't really interested in capturing the "power user" market, letting Nokia (and PocketPC makers) corner that segment. SE's focus seems to be the young, "hip" crowd. Too bad since a lot of the P1's powerful functions will most likely go unused (assuming it doesn't hang or crash...).

Don't get me wrong, I like SE's regular phones; my last one was the K750i (great camera!). After it was stolen and I was in the market for a smartphone this time, the P990i was on the top of my list. But after all the bad reviews, primarily of the OS, I don't want to have to experience buyer's remorse.
Admittedly, I was excited about the P990i's successor. But with the P1, all my anticipation has gone up in smoke. I'm looking elsewhere for my next smartphone purchase...

wait, where is the bugs with n95? lmao.. not good quailty pictures of 5mp with carl Zeiss optics? then sony digi cam using carl Zeiss optics's picture is not up to standard too right?
then sony with the "eriscon" without carl Zeiss optics is more more more damn more not up to standard right? aiyo..

how do you know this phone take picture "a lot better than n73, n80 and other Ns" even when it's not out yet. It's funny right.
                                Typical SE blind fanboy

Even the flagship cybershot K800i which is the best camera phone of SE takes photos at same quality with N73, not to say worse.

This one is not even be mentioned as a cybershot one. It may only takes average pictures like any other 3MP cameraphone. Be realistic man

                                  Hey Viperchild:

You hate SE since ever, because SE makes better phones, always!! better camera, better sound, better battery life, better UI...
The P1 dont be the P990 sucessor, it is a new phone based on the m600. Obviously you dont play with a P series never, the advantage of the touchscreen is obvious and conpletely clear, but you are a blind and absurd nokia fan. This phone dont be a N95 adversary, but the p1 is the best 3,2MP phone actually and it is a lot better than n73, n80 and other Ns of your mother nokia.
About the software bugs, is naturally in a smartphone and you know it better than nobody here because the bugs are a nokia smartphones feature, but the software issues in the P990 are because some hardware icompatibilities, the m600 and w950 dont present this bugs.
But you always be a bitter nokia fan, jealous of the camera and sound quality of Sony Ericsson phones, be happy with your ugly and horrible 3250 twisted brick!!

                                    you said:
oh dear, i've known and used P800 with UIQ 2 since 2002 and P910 based on UIQ 2.1, and i got to say that those two have alot more stable softwares than the currently available UIQ 3 based smartphone like P990. don't take my word for it, see for urself, lots of complaints everywhere in almost all forums of P990 on most online community, tons of software issues for P990 based on UIQ 3! and u don't hav to look far, "t4inc" said a thing about P990, lots of bugs. combination of S60 and PDA? like, can u really use P1 or P990 single handedly comfortably without d use of its stylus? answer = a big no, do S60 and UIQ hav d same amount of available software for downloads? answer = a big no again, S60 definitely hav wider choices.

-->first of all the specs of having a flip keypad on P990 answers one of your query, yes it can do single handling use of the smartphone read some reviews about it and see that even 3rd party apps can be done using the flip keypad. UIQ have 3 could have problems but SE dont mess up with fixing it for months unlike nokia which always make "i" versions because they could really take much time fixing their troubled phone other than making newer one and N93i is the perfect example of that. however they missed such things imho on the performance of it especially the contoversial battery life. and months are passing and SE comes up with something to improve the performance of the device i.e. before it frequently restarts due to the memory leak, but with the improve firmware the phone becomes more stable and it wont restarts, the transition effects on the menu can be turned of, meaning the speed of the interface makes more sense. furthermore UIQ 3 is still in P1 so that means more and more developments from the new phone would also affect the improvements over the other UIQ phones today. so SE is focusing not only to the development on P1 but also on P990,M600 and W950 which all uses UIQ 3. in case of nokia, they come up with so any versions and Developers of it take more time focusing on the development on those versions and leaving the first S60 3rd performance behind. which is more convinient on that? s60 may have more softwares thanks to nokias extensive S60 portfolio and messing up with always new versions without even improving ever single thing over the past versions. SE just makes smartphones on every two years so everyone who had knowhow on SE's strategy understands this,.

UIQ 3 can be used single handlingly:
                                    http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/item/Proof_of_concept_using_UIQ3_one_handedly.php

                                    you said before:

-3.15mp camera, let's face it K800 was around since Q3 last year and also had this resolution, besides other manufacturers like nokia have 5mpx autofocus cams already. 3mpx camphones r nowadays d std..

5mp cam? even though nokia have made a stp forwards on the increment on the resolution? you may want to see the comparision of K800 and N95's cam whereas N95 shows what it means to be a nokia. strong JPEG compression which erases more details than SE does in K800, worse implementation of macro on N95 over the 3.2cam K800, and las t but not the least, the poor color management of N95. it may be standard already to have only 3.2mp but SE is SE, they have excellent experience cameras and they apply it on their phones that proves to be a quality over it's competitors for the recent times. thanks to Sony, one of the leading innovators of imaging technology.

                                    you also said:
-same processor speed of 208mhz (even my mid range N3250 hav faster built in, 229mhz!) a smartphone like this with touchscreen capability should hav faster processor (considering P1s price range..). one more note, N95 (if i may compare, coz dey r more or less b in d same price range, even if dey belong in different categories/market) has a dual CPU and much faster processor 332mhz though lower ram of 64..

processor does not always define better performance if the RAM is poor, you said it a while ago, N95 has 64Mb which is a major disadvantage, why? they have also the so called menu transitions(animations) which eats up the video memory of the device(oh i forgot N95 and other phones with video accelerator does not have embeeded video graphics RAM so it uses the memory of the RAM so the problems becomes more intensive on N95 but P1 would have been saved for the larger RAM) and kicks the performance lower than usual, that's why PCs have their own RAM on their AGP/PCI videocards. good thing N95 has menu to turn that off, newer UIQ firmwares have that either so that wont be so much of an issue. most nokias have faster processors than SE does but they do lose in memory management ever since P800/P910 for example, Nokia 6680 vs P910 6680 was more snappy than P910 when benchmarked, but in terms of handling more applications P910 becomes more snappy(and think about the large display P910 has to render incomparison to the old Nokia display resolution which takes lesser processing but still P910 is ahead) and Nokia takes the message Low memory! close some applications. and won't you mind if i tell you what was the first thing t do on a PC with low performance to boost it? answer add the RAM, and this is what SE firstly did.

one word over the ease of use issue, things need to be get used to, and P1 will be the perfect example that we can learn as we go through...
