Updates even for 18 months is good enough when you get ever single Security update for every month and an update to every major release during those 18 months which will be around 2-3 updates
Which does not happen with miui

Z2 plus is a defective phone which didn't have any sale hence Lenovo had to reduce the price
The point here is not the 40-50$ increase its just that people won't want to spend that 40-50$ extra on a phone just for the processor cause the average person doesn't even know the difference between a 625 and 630 also Xiaomi plans on selling Millions of units of a particular phone hence price is the Main objective If it wanted to cater to 10-30 people for whom the processor matters it would have gone with the 630-660 with a 50$ price hike
Think about the broader market than 10 - 20 people who actually know the difference between a 625 and a 630
Also Most of the phones from 2013 have Nougat through Custom Roms And I don't think many people still have phones from 2013 cause the battery life on that thing might have detoriated to a point where it becomes unstable giving only 1-2 hours screen on time or may be already dead if it has a Non Removable battery

If it launched on Android o then you'll probably leave it when it's on Oreo. Why care for p then. Plus Even MI5 runs n which is same as this one. Oh not to mention system wide theming of Android Oreo which has been there since half a decade on miui

Also sharp aquos S2 is 2499 Yuan in China which is less than 400$. And that's a Bezel less phone with ois and other stuff and read it "SD 630" So there is no major reason they couldn't put that in this phone for 3-5k more. Also a phone with SD 820 costs 10k (zuk Z2) so processor clearly isn't only thing causing price rise. I see no reason why they couldn't keep phone same and replace 625 by 630 ( Xiaomi sold a phone with SD 650 for even cheaper but that's another thing) and charge 250-260 for the same thing

even though i dnt like the soc and small battery size i would buy this phone whenever i see it available .... simply because it is still excellent phone . 20 $ more and sd660 wouldnt have hurt though T_T

There is one Device that Can beat this device to the Dust or at least go head to head with this device
It may not be popular and people may have not even noticed its launch
Its the Meizu M6 Note : Much Better and Original Design and better Cameras and Rest of the specs are same If it launches globally that's one phone that can beat all the midrangers
Hoping that more and more Chinese manufacturers can join the android one train
Meizu M6 Note with Android One would be a Dream
There are many other Good Chinese phone that are only spoilt because of the software experience and updates
I think that google will soon add more brands to its android one program

Lol why doesn't Xiaomi make all phones without miui ,I don't favour complete stock Android (few op oxygen os features are good) but that themed UI completely sucks ,my friend has one Redmi note 4

Try getting a nokia in hand 3,5,6, and you would know rhe diff between the buuld quality of chinese oem's and nokia. It's the level of iphone and Samsung's flagship. The build quality only would make it a must buy. And it has better cameras!! Soc yeah , 430 vs 625 but the gpu is same or 505 in nokia 6 and 506 in this. Not much a diff. And the screen is also better than note 4. So if soc is your concern go for it but anything other than that go for nokia 6.
