The situation is this more hand set manufactures are using android so its bound to be a situation where more people are using this OS. iOS is on apple products only no other manufacturer has this trust me if they did all of them would use iOS instead, and iOS would hold nearly half or more of the market share easily, now saying this you might all be thinking yeah an apple lover, we consider this I use an HTC desire, I have an Mac book pro, I also use a PC so don't even bother going down that avenue I am just talking fact no emotions attached.

Thats funny !! Have you ever used an android phone ??? Guess not. Because if you did, then you'd know that you don't have to root or jailbreak your android device for Bluetooth transfers, mass storage mode, tethering, adobe flash, widgets, realtime notifications etc.

Sorry guys, help me to think, its ok with the Android and iOS Revolution, I like both and have both, but i dont understand one thing... If Nokia has million of users (like Android and IOS together) because they are a very old company and all are Symbian phones, how the hell could be that they are 2% ???? I know that they are going down fast but going down from 70% of the market isn't 2% in 3 years... this is difficult to believe. Unless that they are talking about smartphones purchased 2010/2011... but even that... so... what do you people think about this?

Many non-iOS phones and devices can do that, so will still have many more different models available than iOS devices.

Looking only at US statistics is pretty much a waste of time, as anybody should know. They are far too skewed to be of much use.

AnonD-9871, 01 Jun 2011The iOS is best with lots of premium apps. US market has Android being 36/26 or ~35% better... I wouldn't even call that close. world markets rank android even father ahead of IOS. this is how consumers voted with there purchases. get used to it, IOS will never be #1 as it is only available in a limitted number of high end devices. xman

I Android is going to stay on top until either Apple or MS allow lower end devices. This in turn would allow those with not enough money or need for a top end smartphone to buy iOS and WP7.

iOs is great (I use it on iPad) and Android is too (i use it on Galaxy S). Now these are high end systems that deliver the beauty of each system in a fast, smooth manner on glossy hardware.

I have not used WP7 so have no idea how it really is but have until recently used Symbian and I know it is not as bad as they say it is. It's a mature system that needed extra polishing to fit in the glossy world of today as far as UI is concerned.

So as far as I'm concerned no system is that bad here.

There is no bad OS, only bad user who doesn't know how to use the potential of their device/OS or it doesn't fit their specific needs, but it doesn't mean they are bad, its just happens that there are better OS + better hardware that suits the needs of the majority of the user. I came from Windows Mobile, Palm OS, now IOS, those OS are great, they are not bad, it's just happens that IOS suits my preference. Same to Android, I probably try if IOS failed to suit my needs. Statistic comparison might be misleading and it doesn't tell much how good an OS/Devices are. Factors such as availability, price, and carrier choice affects the data. Try to do comparison which single device model per category (price range, type, etc) has the most sales, with this you can tell which one has the most number of users. Let's have a fair comparison, try to compare Iphone 4 vs Samsung Galaxy S/S2 vs HTC Desire HD vs iPhone 3G vs Motorola Atrix vs LG vs Blackberry vs Nokia, etc, let's see what would be the result.
