after finding out this problem, I have returned my SII back to store today. They might not able to fix it, but if not they would give my money back.
I think everyone should return the handset with this fault.

I was a believer in Samsung when I bought my i8910 2 years ago.. Never experienced phone heating up like crazy, or battery draining or worse screen discoloration, etc.. That's why when I decided to upgrade my phone, my first choice was Samsung again.. It's good to check forums to get "real customer users' feedback" (whether good/bad) coz it is from them that we will get the "real" issues concerning the phone's problems... I do acknowledge all the tech gurus who patiently tested the sgs2 and posted their videos for us to see how great this phone is... But I never or have not yet seen a tech guru who posted the phone's problem that sgs2 owners encountered.

too many haters out there! its an amazing phone! and with all its features, i wud be hard for it to be made 100% perfect! its a minor problem, that is barely noticable to the human eye! at least you can get signal to make a call, unlike the release of the iphone 4! it was obvious that soon enough an ifan wud find sumin to winge abou!!!

I have a dark gray spot visible on brighter gray background. The shape is one of a ring, about 1.5 cm wide.

Anonymous, 02 Jun 2011it same issue of nokia n8 and nokia c7 and htc desire amole... moreWhere in the world do you get that lcd is perfect????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Just the type of technology alone leaves them flawed!
                Faded colors because of backlight
                Uneven lighting
                No black
                Less colors
                More energy used
                More space used
                Less sunlight visibility
Less viewing angle(which to all those who say is unimportant really need to realize how often the view their phones from angels and all the factors that plays in like multiple people viewing it, texting, watching vids, tilting and son on.)
And now WOW experiance. LCD is way behind Amoled and will never catch up. Amoleds will only get way more epic then they already are. Especially when the bendable screen one hits the market. ;P

And few users who actually are experiencing them. The battery issue I have barely even read anything on. Just a few people who seem to not be able to accept that phones cannot last forever, especially with moderate to heavy use and feel that it should last days or weeks this way...go figure. Also what you and everyone else seem to forget here is that every other phone released has issues....Especially in the initial release. Not just every phone, pretty much every single last electronic or product period have issues and defects.

From the first day there was some yellow tint on my screen but I thought it was not unusual. It is true that it is only visible in low brightness. But once it gets noticed it will never remain unnoticed by eyes.

I looked at the grey image from my galaxy s2 in all the diferent brightness settings possible and didn't find that yellowish tint, in fact the image looked completely grey, there wasn't any darker spot or anything out of place.

I'm presently using Samsung i8910. Planning to upgrade to galaxy s2.. So I have read so many forums and I'm utterly shock to see such factory defects going on unnoticed by Samsung quality control department!!! Just to name a few:
                                1. Unit heating up like the sahara desert that you can't hold the phone anymore!
                                2. Battery draining like crazy even in standby mode (android os eating battery juice like there's no tomorrow!)
                                3. Screen discoloration (which you mentioned here)
                                4. Pinkish color when using camera mode!
I'm very very disappointed samsung! Considering it's toted to be your flagship phone! I guess samsung's in a hurry to launch sgs2 and thus has sacrificed greatly in terms of quality control... It's a pity..
