    If the best chip in market costs $26, why are we still supposed to have a SD625 on some € 500 phones? And why do equally powerful Core i7's cost € 300?

      I agree it is overpriced, but not as much as people think. They are forgetting the cost of manufacturing and other logistics. Would I ever buy an iPhone? No, nor a Flagship of any kind. Do we really need faster chips (apps should be written better instead) and higher resolution displays than our eyes can see. All this is just bullshit consumerism, changing your phone every year at the cost of the Environment and our damn future.

        I assume the cost here is overestimated. Galaxy S8 production cost was estimated at $307 and iPhone X doesn't have anything that will make the production costs up to $400. Besides, the Galaxy S8 and the S8+ have curved screens, which are more expensive than the flat ones.
        There are also rumors that Samsung is getting payed about $120 for a single OLED panel, simply because there's no one else capable of manufacturing them.

          Oh people are you stupid? You think your clothes and TV and cameras and everything worth the price you're paying for and are sold the exact price of the production?? 🙄🙄🙄
          Of course there is a right middle, and 1.150€ is not the middle at all...

              Sad.. total ripoff. Even some of the top Android devices are a ripoff..the Note 8, pixel, sony devices, HTC etc. At least the top Chinese devices are reasonably priced..they've shown us the range of what the true price of these phones should be. Sad...top price range should be $500--$800 max.

                Look and apple is asking more than the double. In 2020 an iphone will cost 1800USD. and people will gladly pay for them

                  I have to say, I like it. But if it doesn't have a means for notifications, like a LED or Always-On Display, I just can't use it...

                    $80 is quite cheap for the panel. I think around $120 would be right price.
                    I don't understand why Samsung sold them so cheap.

                            Harsenik, 15 Sep 2017FYI its not just th parts price that we have to look. The R... moreTrue. People should round the expenses to US$400.

                            Remember the prices are actually cheaper than listed, probably closer to US$300, due to the economies of scale. So Apple's profit margins realistically for the iPhone X is around US$600 each unit. The iPhone 8 has a much smaller profit margin, but there's still a healthy gap for Apple to create revenue to re-cycle the funds each gen/device/ecosystem.

                            Samsung's making lots of profits too, but with smaller profit margins and higher sales numbers. Whereas everyone else is struggling to stay afloat.

                              This is a genuine question. Is the price for the sceen what i costs Samsung to manufacture it or what it costs Apple to buy it? Samsung should be making profit from that component.

                                Haters of the iPhone X or anything Apple need to realize that Apple is a business. Not a charity. I remember when the iPhone 4 cost nearly $200 to manufacture but they sold it for $700. For $400+ manufacturing costs and charge $1000 doesn't sound any different than before.

                                Haters can keep on hating on iPhone X. Happened to the original iPhone as well ten years ago lacking many basic features and no third-party apps for a year. But deep down, haters had iPhone envy and wanted it. You know you want the X but find reasons to hate it.

                                  And the logo cost 600 $
                                  Coffe = 1 $
                                  iCoffe = 10 $

                                    how much cost production for note 8 ?

                                      FYI its not just th parts price that we have to look. The R&D is not free. Workers that assemble the phone are not free either. Marketing campaing are not free... you have to think about that too.

                                        Wow, that's pretty expensive actually. I'm used to them costing 280$ but this is premium pricing right there. Premium quality.
