Again.....
No competition for iphone with A11 chip
Even much better and faster than the unannounced SD 845.
I love android but no body can deny that iPhone 8 (and X) are the best of the best in terms of performance

Kiyasariin, 15 Sep 2017Hm... considering your words... Qualcomm will need to work ... moreif they go for 10 cores cpu and upgrade all cores performance by 20% multi cores performance wil pas apple again. In computer engineering its normal thing if you going out second you have to be better than past first

Anonymous, 16 Sep 2017You are right. At the end we will all win with this compete... moreYes, I prefer Android too because I have the control of my phone and can do things that are imposible with Apple phones. And today even mid range phones have enough power to run highend games without lose too much quality. So it's not really about how powerfull is the SoC.

Well nobody gives a damn about Apple's Geekbench score as it only comparable with of course Apple's SoC. Geekbench's version for Apple is a complete mess and only an !Di*t will believe that A11 is faster than even Ryzen or Skylake clock per clock. Heck I bet even a 5 year old Core i5 is faster than A11 in real-world comparison.
On the other hand, Qualcomm should have just enhanced the Kryo cores from SD821. Make 2+2 or 2+4 at 2.8-3GhzGhz (PC) + 2.2-2.4Ghz (EC). It will easily make SC about 3K and MC about 7-9K. Remember SD821 can easily reach 2K in SC and 4.5K in MC.

who cares... android fanboys dont care about anything and still say
-iPhone sucks, android phone got more ram from 4GB - 8GB even
-Single core mean nothing, android is all bout multitasking... look at our multi core number
-(Now... with A11's multi core) who is believing in benchmarks anyway, only sheeps do.

AnonD-191847, 16 Sep 2017I understand most of your points, with one correction: Whil... moreYou can use GB as a cross-platform comparison tool. Until someone runs specint on the a11 we won't really know how it compares to Intel.

Not today, not in the 20 years to come. If their is one cpu that will replace 0 zeros and ones "cpu's" are the quantum ones. And by god we do not want that, believe me. Anyway, their is a huge problem with windows 10 on arm, and that is the normal programs that need raw power, x64 and x86 algorithm does not match the same values on arm processing, they are actually different. the CPU girl, would probably be able to explain this better. This is also why they do not hurry up on releasing it. but anyhow, you had some good points their, but some don't get it.

njsilva84, 16 Sep 2017Define "current desktop/laptop"... My 6 year old desktop k... moreAccording to geekbench, your Xeon scores around ~12000 points with 6 cores, meaning it's barely 20% faster than the A11 chip. That means that yes, your $1400 CPU with 95W TDP is almost getting matched by a 4W dual core+4 useless cores chip that costs $100 tops in the new iPhone. So yeah, why doesn't Apple use the chips in their macs? Seems like a great idea to me.

Now android users can demand from the oem's and google to really optimize the android units, even with 6gb of ram, its not enough. Great for apple users, fast units, great also for android users to demand oems to push the limits of android

[deleted post]Define "current desktop/laptop"...
My 6 year old desktop kicks any phone's processor (Six core intel Xeon X5760, 3.6Ghz). So, yes Apple is great at designing smartphone chips but don't compare them to "any" desktop or even laptop. If it was that great why didn't they put the A9, 10 or 11 in their iMac or MacPro?

If, against what I argued before, the scores are actually legit, then it is almost a tragedy that all this processing power is wasted on an iPhone. The multi-core performance is at the level of a desktop ivy bridge i5(3rd gen), while the single-score one is at the level of a skylake(6th gen) one. A desktop ivy bridge i5 can run any current game at max settings(assuming you have the necessary GPU), as well as blaze through almost any productivity task. This chip, with Microsoft's current plans of full windows on ARM devices and a full dock could mean a complete desktop replacement in your pocket, even an Android device could get most of the jobs done. Still, all this power is literally wasted in an iPhone who can't do anything with it. It's almost sad for us consumers, to be honest.
