zodiacfml, 24 Sep 2017I do have to wonder why Google insists on HTC while it does... moreBody, battery, main board, optics & much more are HTC but who cares, i do believe googleacquired the employees mostly for designing phones and also i think it is good for HTC too.

I do have to wonder why Google insists on HTC while it doesn't manufacture their own parts.
They could have easily went with LG which can, at least, manufacture their own displays.

If HTC was making Huge profits on VIve Why would they need Google to Pump Money into the Company [ Is HTC VIVE enough to Save the Company The Answer is Clearly No they have been posting billions of dollars of losses since 1-3 years ]

Also you are one of the most ignorant Commenters I have seen

Do you know that the top 5 smartphone vendors in global smartphone shipments for q2 2017 were

        Samsung
        Apple
        Huawei
        Oppo / Vivo
        Xiaomi

        [Source : http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_holds_the_lead_for_global_smartphone_shipments_in_q2_2017-news-26534.php]

That's already 3 Chinese Manufacturers and these are global shipments

Do you know that half of the world's population is in India and China
And Google Play Services is allowed in India

Xiaomi Sold More than 5 Million Redmi Note 4s in India ,Oppo Vivo also sell very well India

Xiaomi also has strong sales in Europe ,Middle east ,South America and South East Asia

Huawei has been selling very well in Markets Such as Russia ,Europe and America

And Almost all the countries Except China Allow Google play Services

          I've owned three HTC-manufactured smartphones.

          Nexus One
          HTC One (M7)
          Google Pixel

The first two had amazing designs. The Pixel is what I wished the first two performed like but also looked like.

I don't have much faith in HTC anymore. They used to be one of my favorite Android OEMs. Now I believe LG is better and Huawei and Samsung have surpassed them in design years ago.

I would love for the next Pixels to look something like the Nexus One and HTC One all over again but with updated specs. M7 did not age very well after four years. Sense 6 ruined it.

Gimmie a break. Operating in a home market is one thing, but every executive level employee knows better if they want to expand. As naive as it seems to someone with your inexperience, that's just the world of business.

And you've clearly never been to Europe since you think EVERYONE speaks English. My in-laws can't speak a word of it, in fact no one in their French village does.

They can't speak a word in german, and some very poor english. Nobody at that factory is required to speak english, the only prerequisites are for the top of the command chain to be able to communicate in german with the HQ. Why in the world would HTC's Taiwann team be required to speak English to work in their HOME market? Don't you realize it makes literally no sense?

Also, "English is more widespread in Asia than Europe"? Seriously? Every single European, except for very old ones has a good to impeccable level of English, that's why you never had any problem with Europe.

If you'd ever worked for a global business you'd know English language is always a prerequisite. I'm US based and have teams across Eu (which has less English speakers than Asia) and Asia and we've never had to engage a translator. English IS the global corporate language.

The Pixel line up is already veritably worse off than when it was Nexus. Near-Apple pricing, incremental reduction of features. Wtf are they thinking? Htc IP? What IP? They're barely afloat as it is. I'm sensing another Trojan horse scenario happening.

I personally think its a really good move, HTC always had the best and better looking devices for a while (even now their camera its amazing, look at U11). They are yet to come up with a "infiniti display" type of phone but their hardware has always been spot on. Unfortunately for them, marketing seems to be their main problem, but Google shouldnt have that problem as everyone knows Google and now their Pixel phones.

Stan, 21 Sep 2017Obviously you have never worked in tech. Everyone in the te... moreIt doesn't work like that, unlike the Americas and Europe, almost nobody speaks english in Asia, english to asian languages translators are in a constant need. While all the numbered points you gave are true, a company is like the human body: It has a lot of different divisions that have different roles. In this metaphor, HTC's engineering team is basically its brain. HTC also has a division that works out translations and corporate communication, that would be its mouth. The idea is, nobody in HTC's actual engineering team except maybe the people at the top actually needs to know any english.

What Google basically did was buy a part of HTC's brain without realizing they severed them from their mouth, so to say. What use are all your great ideas if you have no way of communicating them? They'll need to hire a fresh new team of translators, IF they can find any, as I said they are few and there's a constant deficit of them. Even if they do, they'll probably have to pay them more than the actual engineers because of this deficit. They'll eventually get things right, but it's gonna be terrible at first, as I said.
