But the fact is No OEM Can ship with Google Play services in China Be it [Samsung ,LG ,HTC ,Motorola]
Because The Simple Fact is that Google play Services and Banned in China
And you don't even know this simple thing Because these phones are not available in your country and you import them from China hence no Google play services pre loaded but where they are sold in countries like India ,Europe ,Russia ,South America They come pre loaded with Google Play Services

Without them we wouldn't have android, Apple wouldn't have competition and we would have a lot less features and innovations that we see today, like it or not we owe HTC, they deserve a leg up.
Hope they come out swinging.
Next phone is a HTC ; )

Not going to help with pixel sales. Google needs a whole lot more than a bunch of HTC engineer to help with sales. Google has pretty much 0 present in Mobile carrier shops. And TBH not everyone is going to buy $500-$700 phones and Google has nothing in the $200-$400 price range. Good Luck Google but your current offerings don't look good at all (matter fact I vote it to be the worst looking phone of 2016& 2017) nor has anything different from what Samsung or anyone else is offering.

Most of those asian OEM you named do not include google service in most of the device they make ( with some exception ) so its not that good for google.
So its in google interest to make sure as many OEM that do put the google app on all device stay afloat.

I saw similar bad experience from Samsung and LG as well.
you know cheap device are cheap right?
Samsung J3 by example is total crap.
LG x power is pretty slow..
They also dont get software support much.
So dont do double standard.
I had amazing device from HTC like the M7 M8 and M9 ( beside horrible camera those device where pretty good )
I had amazing device from others OEM as well.
Its not because you had a bad experience with the lower end model that they are all crap..

ratio per unit sold ( iphone nearly 30% come back with issues.. same with samsung.. pixel 1 out of 50 come with issues.. )

HTC is a hardware designer. They only design the phone, but individual parts are sourced from all over the world.
1. CPUs are built by Qualcomm, which is an American company. So in order to sign a contract, you have to call their headquarters in San Diego, California. Any issue with integration? - you still call San Diego headquarters.
2. Camera modules are build by Sony. So you have to call their headquarters in Japan and work out the deal for a module with specific specs(and price).
3. Ram and non-volatile Memory is built by Samsung, Micron, Hynix, etc.
4. Motherboard is probably built by Foxconn or similar.
5. Screen is build by Sony, Samsung, LG, or one of a few others
So as you can see, in order to create a phone, you absolutely either must speak all worlds languages, or you use a common engineering language - English.
