You may be an iPhone fan who is ready to bear with all this just because you have paid 800-1000$ for the phone and another 150-200$ for the battery pack
But Not everyone is ready to do the same they would rather buy a 200-300$ phone every 1-2 years With up to date Hardware and Software These days even the phones in this range are capable of challenging flagship phones
Also since Android is an Open Source Operating System There are Tons of Custom ROMs Out there that increase the longevity of the phone even though the OEM has stopped it's support
In this case Apple doesn't have any other option but to support it's devices longer cause they don't want to make their Os open source and there is zero 3rd party support for the Os
It's obvious that a person who has paid 1000$ for a phone would at least except this from a Closed Source Os

speed: slower than with iOS 6, but not slow at all and still faster than most android phones in this price range at € 100
battery life: not good, 45 min of gaming SoT, but I have an Anker PowerCore+ 13400 so I don't care
And I plan to keep my iPhone 7 even longer like 6 or 7 years, until the updates stop. I think iPhone 4s with iOS 9 was the last slow iPhone, the rest will still be good to great with updates. And iOS gets heavier, Android stays the same all the time in terms of speed so there is no reason to not upgrade them. I know somebody who still uses his iPhone 5 since late 2012 (I bought mine in early 2013) and he sees no need to upgrade.
iPhones are built to last, and a big part of it is software support, period.

Moto too has near stock UI, but still very laggard in providing OS and Security updates. And in fact all of Moto's G series are still stuck on security updates they got back in June. If Nokia/HMD stays true to their promises even for their 3/5/6 series phones, then it will be good.

Anonymous, 02 Oct 20172 is just enough for the flagship Nokia 8, and great for No... moreBy that time the phones battery will be dead and unusable with screen on times of less than 2 hours [Especially Phones with Non Removable Batteries ] and hardware won't be able to handle these new updates that's what happens with iPhones even though they get new updates the hardware is not able to handle it and the experience is really laggy and buggy.
2 Version updates or 18 months is perfect for updating phones so that the older hardware can handle newer software anything longer than that is a waste of time for the company as well as the user.
Also don't think 90% of people would keep their phones for 4 years by that time the phone will almost be unusable and Battery Life will be awful

2 is just enough for the flagship Nokia 8, and great for Nokia 6/5/3. If they do 3 updates, then it will really get interesting, and 4 would be a dream. That's what I really like about my iPhone.

I will believe when I see it. You know how many times oem's have made such promised only to not follow through. Moto is the latest example of that, I rest my case.
