KMB877, 09 Oct 2017It wasn't me, but I remember that let's call-it "super-opti... moreCould've been a shill. Yes, there were actual paid people and Microsoft Staff ordered to bad-comment about the "expensive iPhone" and the "cluttered Android" devices. And these guys were on Facebook, YouTube, and all major review and technology sites.

You know what is Ironic?

I remember how many people fight with me, when a year or two ago i told them the same - windows phone is dead.
But so many blind belivers - ooh, you'll see surface phone, ohh, windows mobile 10 is great...bla, bla, bla.
Happy at the end that one buggy platform is dead.
Few months ago i switch from Lumia 640 to Nokia 808 Pure view - a dead Symbian platform phone - and you know what? It is working better than windows 10. After syncing my contacts with microsoft account - opera browser still working, have my e-mail, BEST CAMERA, FM transmitter, on screen display - and thats was 2012 - no Sammy, no Apple, no LG no noone! NOKIA was first to introduce that.
          And it is still working!

i am not trying to be sarcastic but i DO remember after Nokia launch the Lumia 900 Steve Ballmer drop da bomb with WP 8 and NO UPGRADE PATH. i would pardon MS for no upgrade transition from Window Mobile 6.5 to WP 7. the same mistake was repeated with WP10, though this time MS did try the hardest to ensure most WP8 users got the ticket. After 3 times no upgrade path, it is very understandable that no body would care for WP again. WP 10 concept was in my opinion 6 years too late. I understand if app developer had a hard time to re write the app for new WP.

AnonD-546038, 09 Oct 2017So, where's the guy who was arguing with me some months ago... moreFully agree, poor support and miserable communication with customers. WP is a model example how someone can kill a good product with poor marketing and poorest support. If MS continues this way, it will become just a large, but not decisive SW organization.

As much as it’s sad, I think it’s the right thing to do for Microsoft due to the situation they are in (because of their own mistakes).

On the other hand, I believe there is a need for a new mobile OS in the market. The dominance of iOS and Android is shrinking the competition. I think there is no value added advantage anymore, especially in the Android market. Too many devices, same software. There is nothing fresh, there is nothing new. The phones today might look different in looks and might be different hardware wise, but what’s really new and fresh under the hood? I can’t say the same for iOS, since it’s only made for Apple devices and it makes sense. I think manufacturers needs to invest in producing their own OS to differentiate (and no, making skins for Android doesn’t count). I also think there is no point in bringing back dead OS’s such as Symbian, BB or Windows Phone.

Well Microsoft, serves you right for destroying Symbian, S40 and Linux/ Meego....
Now who will return the destroyed OS'es to us??

I was a Windows Phone user, and having used all three major OSes (WP, Android, iOS), it was easily second best behind iOS in my opinion. It's disappointing to see this getting the axe rather than Android, but with so few users it's no surprise.

                                I've had windows phone... it was a great phone if to be frank. it had marvelous features but the lack of apps kinda disappoints... as much as I loved WP. I truely hope microsoft will learn their lesson and create a great OS. OR join android. ^^;

So, where's the guy who was arguing with me some months ago here, about windows phone, that was a good platform and not gonna die, better than android and ios? Run away right?...facts are straight in peoples faces but they are such fanboy's they refuse to see.

Windows phone was doomed since the start. App store was very poor, poor support etc

                                  RIP.

                                    well they killed it
before nokia purchase windows was selling very good in countries like france and italy was even better than apple uk was almost same as apple
south america was also very good for them
problem was they stopped releasing new devices
market was very good for them and they just stopped
so if you dont sell devices cant expect to have marketshare and devs to consider you
mr nutella is the problem here he dont care about consumers just about board members so as long they make money from apps on ios they are happy and he dont care about windows users and thats why devs dont care
i wish ballmer never retired this guy had passion about his job not just numbers
