Kyo, 11 Oct 2017The sad part is that we are paying for this to happen throu... moreActually, it's because legally THEY CAN do it. You know, when you first boot it or you setup an account somewhere, there's always that "Terms and Conditions" 72-feet long text filled with gibberish legal text that no one reads (since no one would understand it without a lawyer) and people just check the box saying "I read and agree with the Terms and conditions". There, you learn that FB takes ownership of everything you put on FB and can use it for whatever they want, and they will, that Google can track all your navigation or that you agree to be profiled and have this data sold to some ad network or worse.

      Just a general question:
How many of you guys think that Google/aPple/Samsung/Microsucks/.... whatever are NOT stealing your data? Not to mention NSA and the like....

Anyone that think that their phone/phablet/tablet/pc is a secure platform are just being very naïve... IMHO

A guess would be that a company like HMD (Nokia brand) is one of the least likely to do so, since Finland repeatedly ends in the top of the ranks among the least corrupt nations...
But using a US based OS on top makes the end result dubious security wise anyhow...

It's hilarious to see many people defending one plus for stealing data. They really do not understand difference between taking something with permission and taking something without consent and knowledge. Hell, we have to write some codes to stop this data stealing (as per article). It's a proven fact that Chinese are too greedy and untrustworthy when compared with rest of the world. I am not surprised. If some American or europian company would have done it then that would have been shocking. You knew what was at risk when you bought a Chinese phone. Don't complain now.

              Keep buying those chinese replikas..
Meanwhile I'm gonna buy ony Sony, Sammy or LG.
I'd rather have an older flagship from Sony than a brand new fortune cookie that steals my data and cheats the benchmark scores.

Oneplus is a disgrace! Boycott them!

That’s what you get for using Chinese crap.

Rather get a Samsung or any non-Chinese smartphone. Yep, I’ll pay more, but the extra few dollars would mean a lot in the long time.

I know for a fact that even Samsung and pretty much everyone collects our private data, but the difference to Chinese is that these information are being kept and not sold to any stupid thing. We no longer can hide things with our devices, but I’d rather have my private information be with Google, Samsung, LG, Sony, Asus, etc., than any untrusted Chinese OEM. Maybe Huawei is good, but I’m still hearing some news about them regarding this act, but not as much as before, which shows that they are getting better.

After all, you get what you pay for.
