AnonD-538833, 11 Oct 2017That's what happen when you buy cheap chinese phones with f... moreActually, Xiaomi and Huawei doesn't do it any more than Google services does. They have wayyyyyyyyyyy too many users and devices to monitor. Fortunately they have a very useful user community that is very quick to identify and report any software defects. They don't really need to spy on users to "enhance the software experience".

That's pretty tame and arguably very specific data compared to what other brand have been collecting. Ofc one will only get threathen if they start writing about big brand dirty secret.

                - Quality
                - Cheap

                Pick one.

That's why I'm still hesitant about getting a Chinese phone.

Pretty sure this must be the case with OPPO VIVO too as BBK is parent company for all 3 of them.

Hopefully if this can get senses back to Indians who are buying 1+, OPPO VIVO like crazy.

That's how they price low . Their smartphone send vital data to their supportive storage service and im exchange of them they get enough money to build a cheap product.

That's what happen when you buy cheap chinese phones with flagships specs.
Dumb reviewers will still recommend this company's phone just because they keep getting the check.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2017Why Amazon AWS server? One plus sold data to them?Because they can't route it directly to China or wherever they are trying to really use the data. Keeping it offshore in a database is the first step...you know what I mean.

This is sad and scary, we're living in a world where privacy is no longer our rights.

Unfortunately all android oem's/device makers have the ability to do this for different reasons. But that is the world of android, nothing new...
