Samsung brings two new camera sensors: 12MP 1.28µm with Dual Pixel and 24MP 0.9µm

This is the first sensor with sub-1µm pixels. It will use pixel binning in the dark.

Great now where are the sensors that don't reduce the pixel size? And have resolution and fast dual pixel focus??
Borrowing light or not... pixel binding... that's still only 0.9um pixels.
Just use that 1/1.7 inch sensor you were working on in 18-24mp configurations. Make sure it has dual pixel tech, good OIS, and a bright aperture.

It is more like, cost reduction than improving anything as it reduces the size of the camera sensor. Therefore, a smaller sensor also reduces the size of other components, lowering the cost. Apple's Plus phones have camera humps. I don't think plenty users need remove the camera humps.

Their S7/S8 or does not have the hump despite having f1.7, OIS, and largish sensor.

High resolution in day, low res in night. Just as sony. Difference may be how much are separated pixels.

They want good press so they now use metal and glass backs to not only look premium but removed the ability to change batteries, SD cards and the SIM from the back.

And what if I want a thicker phone with 1" sensor and OIS and big, very high capacity removable battery? F.ck the companies they don't make a phone like that.

Slim phone means smaller batteries. I rather they increase the size, make it a bit thicker with bigger battery but of course they won't do that cos then we won't buy a new phone 1 or 2 years later.

I hope Samsung makes an ISOCELL similar to the PureView design but made it better. 41 - 50 MegaPixels, 4K 60fps, 1080p 240fps, 720p 1000fps, Dual Pixel, etc. I'm okay with the obnoxious camera bump as long it has the power akin to any basic DSLR available.

                Would be great combination!
The fast for the main camera and the slim for telephoto camera.

I got ISOCELL sensor on my Note8, and i wish Samsung to make every unit use their own sensor, and it starts from the Galaxy S9.

This is great and all, but pretty much any Sony sensor counterpart destroys this sensor; it's just that Samsung is too weak at using anything made by Sony.

I'll spot an eye for a Sony IMX4xxx sensor with 16mp on 1/2" sensor, hopefully paired with f1.8 and 5-axis OIS. It has always been low light that Sony is weak at, so Samsung is still leading here, but maybe soon it will change.
Still remembering how the Xperia Z2 pretty much humiliates the Galaxy S5 in low light shooting, but everything has really changed today.

Needless to say that it is obviously a good news. And hopefully we'll see them available sooner rather than later, with obviously an eye on the S9, etc.
