Yeah it can bring nexus taste to more people with more affordable price., But today android one seems not 100% nexus / pixel style, since mi a1 opted to using softkey navbar. Well it's not bad

I think both are not that different, apart from names...

Pixel is a phone in which, both hardware and software are connected, while Android One is a software aspect mostly, and its not necessary that hardware is that connected to it.
Secondly, for now, Pixel is flagship grade while Android one is entry to mid.

And that's what makes android one special... after Xiaomi mi A1 One is no longer a ecosystem of lower-end uknown brand smartphones, but rather midranges with common features (Memory card , Audio jack, etc...) and there is a hope for a better specced devices.

So Nexus is dead, long live Android One.

AnonD-368020, 15 Oct 2017Nexus phones came with almost flagship like hardware in bud... moreMain thing to take into account is the hardware we get. I still use my Nexus 5 (using 7.1). It's incredible, fast, barely messes up at all. If we are getting a phone today with a 1080p screen, bigger battery, stock android, and better camera... then the phone should run incredibly well (better than the nexus 5). Mid range and even low range phones can do what most people want/need (messaging apps/social media). The best thing about the Nexus 5 was the low price and high capabilities, yes. However mid range phones can give you high capabilities now. A high end phone isn't really 'needed', doesn't benefit most it's users. I mean most people using an s8 still don't realise their screen comes with 1080p as stock.

For some reason it doesn't look better than nexus, so far just few phones, midrangers are out, still does not run Oreo, and they just same phones as their original versions, like Xiaomi, and Motorola just the only one dedicated X4 specifically too android one brand, but it's just one phone, stock does not mean it is better android experience, usually you miss some features which big brands uses only on their products

Is it me or is this a lame poll?
Who cares about cheap low end phones? I'm sceptical even about midrange phones.
Anyway, until they bring SD card slot into the pixel line I'm not interested. And if it's never, then I'll never buy one. There are plenty of rootable brands out there.
            It's that simple.

Tried the Xiaomi A1 at a store and i'm surprise how smooth it is. If battery life for it is really good, it can be a great backup phone.

Android one could never replace nexus lineup. Nexus was a flagship grade device for about 200$ while android one is barely entry level to midrange and it costs almost the same.

Could never replace Nexus when those devices had flagship SoC. Android One is meant for the entry and midrange market in developing countries to grab another billion Android users. Snapdragon 600 series is not worthy enough to replace the Nexus branding. Besides Pixel already replaced it.

                                It's all about the updates.
If they get Oreo soonish, then I'll consider them Nexus-worthy.
The 630 chips are fast enough for me. I'm fine with that. You want speed, then pay for it.

Cameras are another thing. I wish these phones had at least Nexus 5X quality (just a bit more ram and no bootloops and that phone would be all I need)

While they cant today, they will have to soon, as Google dropped the ball with the Pixel line. I hope Android one will get there.

How can Android One replace nexus? Even the last nexus was powered by SD 808. And I'm not even talking about the premium one. Whereas the best Android One has gotten is SD 625.

Nexus was meant for power users. Android One is only for Pure Android enthusiasts.
