Huawei Mate 10 vs. Mate 10 Pro: screen battle

Just for the record, the side bezels of the basic Mate 10 is thinner than Mate 10 pro. compared side by side when swirched on, the Mate 10 pro has a very obvious black side bezels unlike the plain Mate 10 where it has a true edge to edge display.

Having more r... moreDude I am using a phone with 2gb ram and its buttery smooth until I open 3-5 demanding games (280 or less mb of ram remaining)then its starts to slow a little bit and yes facebook and instagram use a lot of ram but still even then I get around 400mb of free enough for smooth usage unless I play demanding games like apshalt xtreme

Having more ram in not the equivalent of having more peak power. If you'd said that about some uber CPU I'd agree, only power users would see the difference. But RAM is used by everyone and in every day tasks. Nobody likes reloading assets, now or ever. Power users or not
4GB is depleted faster no matter how softly you use your phone (and most don't, facebook and instagram *are* hard uses to RAM)...

I prefer AMOLED but I also prefer 16:9 screens to 18:9. On the other hand at 77mm vs 74mm wide, I'd find the pro's narrower width easier for every day use, as long as the top to bottom reach increase doesn't cause worse issues.

I like old screens...alot.
But... I like fingerprint on front and the absence of Huawei logo on the face on the non-profit version.
I really appreciate that Sammy doesn't put branding on the face of my s8.

Glass is the worst, I drop my phone all the time, the last thing I need is to have it shatter..
My Maye 8 is still in good shape because it's made out of metal.. The v30 looks to be better phone.

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2017Wow amazing design. Bezel-less phones are soooo original...You cannot be original with a rectangle. A smartphone is a rectangular screen with components underneath. The bezeless design is merely closer to the ideal smarphone design (i.e. just a screen) but certainly not creative. You cannot have creativity and functionality/egonomy/portability at the same time.

Mate 10: Better aspect ratio, BtS ratio *and* fingerprint
BUT: Quite slower (4GB means maaany reloads), quite worse screen (sorry but AMOLED is visibly better than LCD in everything, also QHD is a downgrade as it hardly offers any sharpness upgrade yet downgrades the graphics performance of the phone)
Neutral: The 3.5mm Jack. Whether it's in or not it makes no difference. Having a usb-c phone adapter on your headphone won't suddenly make it worse or less portable. Plus it's dirt cheap. Too much noise over too little.

I keep reading this and while some users try to correct comments like the above using evidence more and more users are writing it.
A mistake stated too many times is still a mistake. You're mistaken: Mate 10 Pro would be *visibly* faster in day-to-day tasks (far less loading screens).

The vanilla Mate 10 is a great device & easily better than the other Pro & Porsche Design versions (More screen area, QHD vs FHD+,16:9 ratio and front fingerprint scanner and still a better Screen to body ratio than the others, 3.5 mm headphone jack and SD card slot and still much less expensive).
The only things better in the Pro & Porsche Design are more RAM/storage, IP67 protection and the AMOLED screen.
The other goodies such as the impressive front and back camera, the 4000 mAh, the promising Kirin 970 and the Infrared Blaster remain the same for the trio.

Let's be real here, whoever puts his phone in the water asks for trouble. Even an ip68 phone, don't risk it.. it's not designed for it. It's only for protection, not a feature anymore. The stretched screen trend is only a trend, not a feature either. You don't get a bigger screen, you get a longer screen. This is what the post proves as well.
The mate 10 has a headphone jack and a brighter, sharper screen. So i would go for the regular mate 10 hands down.
