Huawei Mate 10 vs. Mate 10 Pro: screen battle

16 October 2017
The non-Pro model has a sharper screen with a better screen to body ratio?

Sort by:

Too expensive not much to offer, everybody trying to sell garbage for apple prices

Mate 10 pro lacks headphone jack, QHD resolution and SD card slot with mostly identical internals and same sized battery as the normal mate 10. Even the 2gb ram seems marginal as mate 9 had 4gb and it seems to have held up well. Not to mention the LCD on the norm mate 10 is brighter than the 10 "Pro." The only down to the mate 10 norm is no water resistance, but a 100$ less price tag and more features offset that. On the screen aspect debate I dont mind either. They both have small bezels and I always liked the ultrawide format, although the 10 normal still looks great and shows its a personal preference of screen ratio rather than a winning feature.

IMO the resolutions should have been the other way around.... Mate 10 should have got FHD... and Pro should have got QHD+ AMOLED. And accordingly, there should have been more pricing difference to differentiate between the two...

Right now, FHD+ on Pro is acceptable... as long as it is RGB.... if it is Pentile though... it is not even worth considering.

As for the colours. The Honor still gives punchy colours and great blacks. In my case (S5 vs H8) it's merely nitpicking. Love the Honor 8. The fingerprint scanner that can be used as a quick-access button is genius. Photos are better on the Honor, fantastic performance and great looks. The best phone I got so far for a great price (-400€)

I have been sticking with OLED display for many years and see myself very hard to switch back to LCD due to the advantage of low reflection especially night time use. FHD+ of Mate 10 Pro is a huge roll back from QHD. At this price, we are not difficult to get QHD+ OLED even from the top-end Samsung.

Huawei is out of my interest for another year.

They should have just made the mate 10's screen amoled.

(Price differenece will be small and the a series is completely rubbish in terms of what you get for the money you pay and s8 way better specs although i dont like samsung anymore). Me too i was looking for a compact flagship phone this year but i guess its the year of hugeness and bezelessness of phones? I prefer the fingerprint on the front or on the side like sony and navigation tools off screen? But the most compact phone i found this year is iphone 8 and s8, and i dont like either lol, i guess ill stick to my phone ( htc 10 and btw htc is so underrated, im not fan of htc but 10 is a great phone its just the customer service aftersales is rubbish lol ) until next year... :/

SZtadir, 16 Oct 201716:9 aspect ratio yields 81.7% screen to body ratio, while ... moreWere you asleep when Mi Mix ... you know the one phone that spurt all this bezeless craze had 84% BtR whilst using 17:9 (16:9 w soft buttons on).

Obviously 18:9 makes the bezels bigger. Just look at mi mix 2 , only 81%, all because it got taller... taller means more side bezels meaning more chances to be sloppy.

Noel, 16 Oct 2017con'd The 18:9AR screens and smaller than 4000mAh battery ... moreThe funny thing & again Huawei claim on Kirin970 energy efficiency...even though Mate 10 c/w QHD screen but display has set it by default at FHD+ just to save battery (obtained optimal usage) .. fully Contradict statement by Huawei itself and they also didn't give any guaranteed "Memory Gate" case wouldn't happen again..

Reviewers please let us know if Huawei is still cheating and lying about their inferior Flash Storage on most of the P10 citing supplier issues bulls*it.

I can already see the similar setup for the P11 and P11+ next year. P11 will have the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio without full water resistance and the P11+ will sport the newer 18:9 aspect ratio with IP67 certification. Which is a shame because I was looking forward to the more compact P11. I guess A5 (2018) will be it.

The 18:9AR screens and smaller than 4000mAh battery of the other two and the fact that Huawei delivered with the Mate 10..made my decision. Now we just have to see how the Mate 10 performs on upcoming reviews. But i am sold on the big battery, 16:9AR full view QHD screen, looks like a very good camera etc.
Please Huawei... just bring it to market before ppl get tired of waiting and buy something else.

Those prices are ridiculous for these two, especially looking at Note 10 and both does not offer anything special or good except bright cameras, I just really hope isheeps will not going to buy iPhone X, now every bloody manufacturer thinks they can sell **** for Apple praises, people need to stop buying overpriced phones and control market prices, please use your heads!

Hallelujah!! finally a major OEM has listened..not everyone is on the 18:9AR narrow-elongated screens.
Earlier this year on some site, probably on this one..I stressed the fact that Huawei Mate 9 is a near to perfect device and that what Huawei has to do is improve on it by shrinking the bezels by a third , keep the 16:9AR screen, make it QHD amoled and pack a 4000+mAh battery plus all the top specs of 2017. For the most part they did just that and delivered a beauty. For me..I really want the regular Mate 10, even tho the Mate 10 Pro looks good as well.
Even though it states the US will initially get the Mate 10 Pro...I hope Huawei reconsider and bring the regular Mate 10 here as well and with no delays. That's my device..I asked for it and I guess my ppl as well. Today is a good day...will be better when I can cradle the Mate 10 in my hand.
I feel bad cuz I was torn between three devices...V30, Pixel 2XL and the Mate 10. The 18:9AR screens and smaller than 4000mAH battery

Personally I think the normal one is better than the pro except that they moved the finger print reader to the front, it is a deal breaker for me, I will wait and compare it to the v30 before making my decision
