17 October 2017
We've decided to make a quick shootout around Munich between the new and the old Mate and see if there is a big difference or not.

both captures look crap

It was fixed for me by downloading the Adobe DNG codec though. And if you use software like Lightroom and save the edited file down in a universal format of your choosing you'll be OK, even without the codec.
Still an annoyance of course. but less so.

There is no choice of better file quality, only worse. This happens with my canon SLR and my Panasonic superzoom. Hence as you say, I shoot in RAW. Then the issue is that Windows Explorer (Windows 10) cannot recognise the raw files - they've not updated their list since they brought out Windows 10. So it relies on third party software.

Just a bit increase, so why buy the new model?

andrgin, 19 Oct 2017I cant really understand why everybody here claims that the... moreCapturing sharp images is not the same as digitally oversharpening an image. Artificial sharpening can ruin details, introduce artifacts and make the end-result look blocky, noisy and unrealistic.

Have a look at this video for details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJqiKbPg6hw

You won't capture natural shots with a camera that applies too much artificial sharpening and saturation. In addition, the oversharpening can ruin any chance you have of editing the image later in proper image software.

Thankfully, Huawei can easily fix this oversharpening issue via software tweaks. There's also a chance their RAW-files doesn't have these issues, so a competent photographer can use the RAW-files for editing. But it still needs to get sorted by Huawei.

That was shown an stated in the keynote that was live. The ufs hasn't been shown anywhere yet, as far i can see. I'm also still waiting for the teardown, so we can see the actual hardware inside. That was also the only way we got to know that op5 is water resistant. Op denies it tho, since they won't guarantee it will survive.

GMSA in this article states the sensor is the same between the M9 and M10. My response was that DR can't be different between them because the sensors are the same. You said they are not the same based on the wrong specs from devicespecifications.com. So really, you need to provide the evidence to dispute the GSMA claim. I'm waiting for your sources (if you actually have any)

The ufs, I actually haven't found, yet. But nokia 8 sadly have ufs 2.0 :-/ and you can actually feel the difference one op5 and Nokia 8 in that area.

And provide sources that disapproves that the Mate 9 uses the IMX286 sensor and that they are different in both the M9 and M10 cameras. You can't :)

Your tech site accepted my sources of info which I have already given to you....you needed to download the full size samples (from GSMA and DPReview) which you did not to compare resolution of the M9/10 sensors, resolution is exactly the same between them, the M9 uses the IMX286 sensor as seen on AnandTech. Conclusion = M10 uses the IMX286 sensor as well. It's hard for you to put 2 and 2 together, I get that.
