14 June, 2011
Bad news HTC Desire owners, HTC has just announced it won’t update the original Desire with Android 2.3 Gingerbread due to insufficient memory. You are now stuck with Froyo forever. Ok, this forever thing...

AnonD-5791, 14 Jun 2011Im using Desire Z currently.. what people said last time is... moreSorry but Apple iPhone crush SG2 in sales

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-20008980-37.html

Even the SG2 is most technological advanced than iPhone 4, users of Apple don't care, they still making looong lines even camping or 6 day to get one of those gadgets...

So is nearly difficult to SG2 get that quantity of phones sold in this "record" time..

I'm far of be an Apple fanboy but I admit sales of Apple are very strong to beat...is one of the best sold items of all.

I still in the transition to be Android full user (I need CDMA phones) hehehe and the iPhone 4 CDMA is some what expensive for my needs :P

Irrational. Once a thing became a legend, it will be a legend forever. Have you graduated in logic lesson? Because a fanboy couldn't pass that.

I will certainly change brands now! Terrible step back by HTC after much promising of an OTA update to 2.3 before end of Q2. Did they only realise now that the Desire has only 512mb of ROM?

That's why it's a bad idea to have an android. Not all the phones will be updated. People should just stick with the iPhone. When a new update comes out for apple you have a better chance of being updated. The android os is beating apple because there are so many phones out there. You have big selection of phones but one must choose wisely if you don't want to be left behind like many people with android.

AnonD-9017, 15 Jun 2011This strikes me as very odd How come LG launches phones wi... morei dont know much about others but i can clearly sense samsung is getting better than htc day by day...

I think u missed some news, galaxy is ALREADY tasting 2.3 and last time 2.4 for it was leaked...if you are locked to a carrier, thats different story, blame on your carrier...

we used to recommend our friends to buy htc phones saying they receive timely update and upgrade. And if someone ask about samsung, we used to say, most of their phones dont recieve even a single....i still hear the same words from symbian omnia users...

now with time situation is getting reverse...htc is barking that they cant provide GB and samsung is quitely rolling it out...even latest galaxy II got 2(although minor) updates already....htc created a drama about bootloader locking while samsung provided free galaxy ii to cyanogen developers...look how two companies are heading....

and you shouldnt forget sensation has only 786 mb of ram while galaxy ii has 800+ user available ram...can htc assure us this less amount of ram wont b "insufficient memory" for future upgrades???

Many of you seem to misinformed.

The issue here is ROM NOT RAM!!
Desire has a tiny 512mb ROM chip whilest the X10 has a much larger 1GB ROM chip.

THIS is where SE's experience in the mobile world shines, they didnt load the X10 with ridiculous amounts of RAM and tiny ROM. They loaded lots of ROM and a sufficient amount of RAM, and NOW LOOK, they are able to bring BOTH 2.3.3 AND 2.3.4 to the X10. :)

So glad i got the X10, the Desire owners are now at the mercy of custom ROMs, i feel especialy bad for those who got a Desire on a 22month contract, shame realy.

Sad news. I though HTC was better than this. The only reason i bought a Desire was because HTC released updates for their phones. Now i am disappointed i didn't got the Galaxy S. Shame on them and me :(

This strikes me as very odd
How come LG launches phones with outdated android promising to upgrade it and never do like in the GW620(I think), Samsung hasn't rolled out a single update for the galaxy S (still in 2.1 although we know 2.3 is coming), HTC does this and their explanations are not fully convincing, SONY ERICSSON as done several upgrades on the X10, from 1.6 to 2.1, then multitouch and announced 2.3 and already as upgraded the recently launched arc but it is them who take the blame for not doing updates and costumer support...
Really? The others are better? I don't think so...

Duh! Too bad for Desire Users, beign forzed to buy a NEW drvice for get a new OS version.

Well this is Android style for upgrading in partnership with careless phone makers like HTC.

With this combo we will have a faulty devices, OS and greedy companies.

I already explain this some revews ago. Android and others (HTC, Sony, LG, Samsung, etc) don't care users, they ask you to trash your phones every 6 month, and now when 2.4 cames you will need trash that SG2 to get SG3 or Opimus Ultra or HTC Incredible 3 or wathever you want to call it.

Just because they say "Buy expensive devices for an upgrade is good for you (and even best for me" LoL

I've had a htc desire for over a year now..
And unofficial gingerbread roms work like a charm.

Its just sad that HTC is trying to convince users to buy newer models with false information.
Given I have pretty much owned every other windows and android devices over time..Nothing beats the stability, realibity and battery performace of the Desire.

                                Come Clean HTC

Maybe HTC found out that Gingerbread was the cause for the "death grip" in the Sensation and they didn't want to risk it with the only HTC device that was worth buying... LOL!!!

Im using Desire Z currently.. what people said last time is HTC had the best quality cuz they using somekind of metal as cover? and gorilla glass? grrr...ya I understand that but i'm tired of waiting for the gingerbread and i straightly flash it to cyanogenmod7..If I can choose it all over again, I would choose the so called "cheap plastic" phone rather than HTC...Samsung got the best QUALITY not HTC... just look on the Samsung Galaxy s, gingerbread upgrade available decade ago...And just take a look on the HOT SELLING SGS2 that apple fanboys use to call as "cheap plastic"... pwn different phones 1 by 1 with performance and design (iPhone4,Sensation & Atrix)and gain the "World Best Smartphone" title from TechRadar..Desire series are no more the legend, Galaxy series are born to be KING
