My next android phone will be SGS2 or other but definitely not HTC. So disappointed with HTC by giving all lame excuses , always slow in update and giving low phone memory even for flagship product.

look at sensation only has 1g rom vs all other dual core android phones have at least 8g rom, which i believe 8g is more future proof if talk about update.

my current android phone has limited memory which cause me unable to install new apps.

i have seen many people criticize samsung for delaying in upgrading its devices but i would like to inform you critics that samsung has already upgraded its samsung galaxy s i9000 to gingerbread 2.3.3 . i guess its better late then sorry.htc did same thing with tattoo .before they had announced everywhere on net that it ll get android 2.1 but later they said that its hardware is not compatable for the software upgrade.htc has done it before and they have done it again.

HTC can go take a hike.
XDA devs is always there if ur device manufacturer doesnt support you with roms.

AnonD-1180, 15 Jun 2011This just convince me to root my phone Word to that. It is now time for any non-rooted Desires to finally get the treatment and treat themselves to some Cyanogenmod.

Some major changes in Gingerbread should be updated but the present HTC Sense may be kept unchanged to minimize system resource usage in HTC Desire.

That's a pretty thin excuse! Damn you HTC, I really love my Desire.

Hello HTC, are you guys blind or something? Are you completely unaware of the work at XDA Developers? Thanks to these guys I have a choice in running GB, GB + Sense 2.1, even GB + Sense 2.1 & 3.0..

By the way, these talented developers do this for the Desire community.. FOR FREE! Shame on you guys who actually get paid over at HTC, just to give this lame excuse of a statement.

                    Nuff said.

there should be a way.. XDA guys can find a way to that...
that is the reason why i am still not buying android devices because of its updates and limitations. i hope they could built a device that can received all future updates. Nexus series is all good but its price isn't that friendly. i hope Google- Android OS should at least put a requirements to a certain device until when (a device can received)updates. just like iPhones out there. so long you have the device you can still update to its latest OS or at least have a benefit to whatever updates apple is providing. apple somehow never left its consumers unlike others. just my opinion though. peace!

Not a huge issue. It is not as if 2.2 is a bad distro.

2.3 is nice, but not integral

XDA gingerbread mods with sense 2 (useless for me) have about 160-130mb free space so it isn't the rom chip, and even if it is - if they really wanted to release this update, but there would be a little of internal memory they could integrate app2sd...

Jeez, people. Froyo is perfectly fine. Do you really need major software updates? iPhone users seem to do just fine w/o there major updates. If they want the next model of phone, they have to buy it. Back to reality, please.
