OK, Upgrade HTC Desire to 2.3 is doable but if HTC upgrade the year and half old Desire Who would buy the new models Sensation, Incredible S & Desire S
I mean think about it the Sensation is the new flagship and already the phone lost his credibility with the Death Grip and the unconvincing Dual core CPU and HTC desire is out there with the perfect price tag for anyone who would love to own Android 2.3 but thats not going to happen now
HTC is forced to push these new models to the consumers, I mean thank god they released 2.3 for HTC Desire HD before discovering the Death Grip issue and before it become scandal

What is your phone change frequecy? 2yrs? 1 yrs? If you are changing your phone every year, why you bother about the firmware updates? Just change a new phone.
For ppl who using the android smartphone, regardless of maker, you will forever having this firmware updates issue, unless u go for Google Brand phone.
For ppl using IOS, if you jailbreak, same wait for the latest jailbreaking version.
RELAX~~

Rip, 14 Jun 2011Maybe HTC found out that Gingerbread was the cause for the ... moreDeath grip, has got nothing to do with CPU or memory.
More than 'Desire' i think you need a knowledge upgrade...

What a crock! The HTC Desire runs the hacked Gingerbread sense roms from the devs on XDA just fine. Either HTCs engineers are completely useless, or it is a lie to force uses to upgrade to phones like the Desire S, which isn't really an upgrade! Shame on you HTC.

It's better to sorry rather than forcing you to use new and laggy software, like iOS4 on iPhone 3G.

I guess if they upgraded Desire to the new software they will loose the market for the new Desire S & sensation cause why i would by a more expensive set for a couple extra features

first of all i am sorr for my poor english
WT.. you are so right about the wildfire S...
anyway people who post comments such as"buy a new phone" or "only nexus device" are Narrow minded because there are roms out there with 2.3 so you just need to learn a lil
i mean as an HTC Desire woner he is a great phone with or with out gingerbread and when i will have enough from froyo i will start to learn how to root back up and install a ginger bread rom that support my lang..
SO RELAX
as for htc it is very disappointing that they could not find any solution and as gsmarena guys said the wildfire S is almost the same level as the desire or even lower then him and they have released him
with 2.3.

This is the place where memory counts.
its really shame companies dont provide good memory.
how much doubling of memory costs ? maybe $25 or atmost $50 ? i mean putting 512 instead 256 or putting 1gb isntead of 512mb
they must decide that when they manufacture phone but they want people to buy phones again and again.
any phone iphone or symbian or android gets outdated within 1-2 years these days.
