M33, 19 Oct 2017Who can tell me when this "18:9" trend will stop?M33 i am right there with u...not a fan of the narrow elongated 18:9AR screens. First u loose usable screen surface compared to a 16:9AR screen of the same inches, then it makes the phone unnecessarily long. I hope most OEMs will take a page from Huawei and make top devices with minimal bezels in both aspect ratios and same specs...lets see which will win this battle between 16:9AR and 18:9AR.
The regular Mate 10 shows how a full view screen is done with 16:9AR.

HTC it is getting embarrassing now. Just sell yourself to Google goddamn it.

AnonD-653225, 19 Oct 2017Seeing that the average person can barely tell the differen... moreThe difference between 2K and 4K is far larger than the difference between 1080p and 2K. In this respect, if one couldn't exactly tell a difference between 2K and 4K, then why don't they stay with 1080p as it also shows no difference as compared to 2K?
This is a very stupid logic that I have always been asking for years. Everybody hates it when a 4K display smartphone was announced, but everybody dropped their jaws when a 2K display smartphone was announced.

Anth0ny, 19 Oct 2017I have a 1080P 50" TV that I watch Youtube on and I'm happy... moreSmartphone isn't a TV. It's always near your eyes, and while pixel density on smartphones are better, smartphones that really cost flagship prices should come with top notch flagship displays.
It's not really the main resolution. On 2K, texts don't look quite as smooth or as sharp as on 4K.

Stereo speakers are still a necessity today I know, hence why Sony kept them for the past 5 years. It also means that Sony had one of the best audio devices for straight 5 years.

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2017Boring front with BLACK color . should be same color as b... moreso your taste is bad, and want others to like your taste right?
screen is 80%-90% off, so with the color of the back of the phone is just bad. it will look ugly like white phones are when screen is off. second...back color in htc u11 is impossible to replicate because how it was done. it changes color on any angle..in front it could be one of those..but it will not be exactly the same..so it will be ugly in any way...
logo on front? really? less is more...with no logo it is pure black in front....perfect...only retards likes logos....thats my opinion...

Well well well... finally the long awaited kinda device we have been waiting to see from HTC in a long time. My many years of rants about HTCs huge bezel problem n not enough capacious battery might finally be coming to an end. Though a little late but probably in time to finally stop the hemorrhaging of long time loyal fans..it might take some time to bring those who have already moved on to give them another look. I wonder what took them so so long to do these two simple things. But I am very encouraged and look forward to their rebirth and an era of new HTC phones.
But for this time around, I am all about the regular Mate 10 (16:9AR screens with minimal bezels n Huge battery).. next in line the V30 and the Pixel 2XL.
Will the rumored HTC U11 plus change a few minds away from the above mentioned devices????

I gotta give it to HTC, the U11 is a gorgeous phone. Stellar photography and a design that looks different and somewhat stunning in all the different lights. Camera flat.. tick

Boring front with BLACK color .
should be same color as back side.
ALSO = HTC logo on front was looking better, because HTC U11 still had a black bar above button on front.

Sony Fanboy Bitches, 19 Oct 2017QHD for giant flagships for straight 3 years. Good job, com... moreSeeing that the average person can barely tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p on a smartphone display, and 4k content is still seriously lacking, it makes sense that having a "4k" display is not a priority for manufacturers. Their phones are already expensive and there is little benefit to having a 4k display on a smartphone right now.

what I really want is front facing speakers so earbuds can go back to being an option and not a requirement in noisy environments.

well, it does actually, the price of the one you have to replace if it gets a short in the cable.
                            cheaper to replace a dongle.
and a tip for putting your phone in your pocket. never put it in with the charging port facing down. that's how pocket lint gets jammed in the port and you start having charging problems. this tip applies if you have a headphone jack or not.

The question is: will it break like the U11 in Zach's (JyrryRigEverything) bend test. One can say (like HTC does) this is no real-life scenario but 1) for me it is, 2) if I were to choose between the phone that passes this test and the phone that fails, I will take the former.

And most flagship phones pass this test BTW, there are rare instances that break like U11.

Htc make big change from front fingerprint to back

Anth0ny, 19 Oct 2017so you mean you can't use wired headphones on this phone? ... moreYes wired still can be used with a dongle but seriously, holding the smartphone is going to be some kind of problem, since the dongle makes the wire slightly longer, and the wire is at the bottom of the smartphone, so u have to like sort of take it upside down, or just hold it normally will bend the dongle and somehow damage it (previously when I was 7 which was 7 years ago I used my NOKIA 6700 Classic which uses a USB earphone, and thanks to all the bendy bendy, the USB port cannot charge and also cannot detect the USB earphones and it stopped working because it stopped working and cannot cahrge so yeah, RIP) I listen to music everyday with my smartphone and I know that connecting the wired earphones or headphones the most convenient place is on the top of the smartphone, not bend here bend there, and ESPECIALLY when I put my smartphone inside my pocket, that is going to be a real problem; a stiff dongle staying still there and when sitting comes the bendy part again. If I have a smartphone without headphone jack I will use BlueTooth instead of using a dongle to connect the wired one to the dongle and to the USB type C or whatever it USB type it is
