What they didn't know that most of these display would only last for less than 3 years. Which is why battery are draining as fast as a speed of light in a long run!!!!!!!!

The bit in the article about "moving content by a few pixels" only applies to "always on displays", and anyway would not help with navigation buttons: if you were to move these by a few pixels most of the area they cover would remain illuminated, and so this would provide no protection whatsoever.

Is it too much to expect that people providing commentary and analysis for a living think a little bit about what they are writing?

No matter what the AMOLED/ OLED display will surely easily get burnt by heat from the sun or the fire!!!!!! They could have gone for optic AMOLED or Super LCD display which doesn't have that impact.

techperson211, 23 Oct 2017Wonder why only Sony phones doesnt encounter this?Sony don't use OLED. Likewise HTC (apart from a few odd models like the A9).

I know that years of marketing spend and puffing-up by reviewers has resulted in many people thinking that anything other than OLED is "inferior" or even "unacceptable", but different technologies have different pros and cons. Few longevity worries has always been a pro for LCD.

People need to watch out iPhone X which uses same P OLED panel for display which is famous for burn-in issue. Paying $1500 and getting such imperfect products may become new features of flagship mobiles. Battery swelling, battery bursting, display popping, now burn-in ! More expensive the products, more problems they seem to have that too with shelf-life of not more than 7-8 months of flagship nature!

And it's kind of ironic. Because the other LG phones were known for image retention but of LCDs.
