The Mountain View, California-based company also commented on the issue of color saturation.

RickGH, 27 Oct 2017"Should have seen it coming with their removal of the 3.5 m... morePlease educate us how wireless audio quality improved overnight the day 3.5mm jack got removed from phones? Going back to walkman isn't bad at all if audio quality is concerned. Removing 3.5mm jack, exorbitant price tag(matching iPhone's price just to look premium) and giving dumb responses to phone's hardware issues(just like this response from Google) is straight out of Apple's book.

Haha, marketing hype for a failed gimmicks,,,only normal for flagship phone's failures after xpensive price!

RickGH, 27 Oct 2017"Should have seen it coming with their removal of the 3.5 m... moreOh, I'm sorry that he hurted your feelings.
People just wanted superior quality audio without the use of stupid BT connections that are likely to have problems with connections.

I'm sorry that we just wanted them to keep it alive. I guess it hurts your feeling that the jack is still there.
I'm sorry for asking what we want from a phone that we pay for :(

"Burn-in is a nature of OLED and shouldn't affect the user's experience."

Yeah it is the nature, but doesn't mean they shouldn't do anything to fix or prevent it. And no, it does affect the user's experience. Nobody likes watching a video with a Facebook logo on the video.
Software can only do so much to help against it. It was your fault that you chose a low quality OLED screen for a supposedly high end phone with high end price.

"Blue tint is normal on smartphones."

Hahahaha no. My IPS LCD screen only looses some brightness at an angle, but never shifts colors. Yeah for OLED color shifting is a thing, but the problem is that it happens even on slight angles only. Samsung AMOLEDs also have color shifting when viewing at extreme angles, but "Only" on extreme angles.

"We'll extend the warranty up to 2 years."

No thanks. Give back your customers' $900 or replace their Pixel 2 phones with Galaxy S8/S8+/Note 8.

AnonD-632062, 27 Oct 2017"Differential ageing"? "Burn-in is a non-issue?" I guess... more"Should have seen it coming with their removal of the 3.5 mm headphone jack......."

What has that got to do with the issue at stake? What have you finally seen coming? Educate us. What would you use when all flagship phones do away with the 3.5mm jack? Go back to the Walkman?

Some of your posts are just populist sh*t to gain attention and likes! Stop that!

Meanwhile Sony still offers 1-year warranties for their cameras, which are expected to have a much longer lifetime than mobile phones.

I was planning that my next phone will be AMOLED or POLED but after
seeing this and a LOT more photos and videos like this I'm gonna say NO WAY! Keep your junk displays for those who like to show off.
I wouldn't buy a Pixel anyway because it lacks SD card slot.
Maybe the blacks are no that black on LCD, but my phone is almost 4 years old and NO burn-ins.
                I'm going with Sony. Again.

This extended warranty is a funny thing. In Finland all electronics have 2 years warranty by Finnish comsumer law. Sometimes I feel lucky to live here. Same product can break apart in usa after one year but it not here.
2 years of warranty should be used in all electronics world wide.

"2 year warranty", that doesn't cover screen burn-in.

Do yourself a favour and don't buy one, or any OLED screen phone for that matter.

I feel like there's no good phone anymore and every company is just apple now. :\

so what is actually the problem:?
                        1. the display is bad?
                        2. stock android is bad because it cant handle oled display?
                        or both?

Well, it's a problem for the users. Seems like Google is trying to be Apple now, by ignoring the users in favor for their own interests.

I have been telling this! Burn in is the nature of OLED if someone is using the mobile very abnor!mal usages (like in retail showroom with 100% brightness with same screen image for hours). I have Pixel XL (also Nexus 6P and Nexus 6) where such issues do not occur!! If this is true then the same is applicable for iPhone X which is about to be launched ! I expect lots of Burn-in issues there in the Apple iPhone X as well

Decay characteristics of the Pixel 2 XL display "are similar to OLED panels used in comparable products." But no comparable panel out there got this issue within a month even by the reviewers all over the world. If a reviewer gets it in a month then how would someone buy your phone fully knowing that the screen will sure get this issue anytime? Google, learn from Samsung in how it dealt Note7. Take back all Pixel 2 XLs and replace their screens and re-release your phone. At least you won't get losses in the scale of Note7. Google's response is enough to shoo customers away from Pixel 2 XL.
