I prefer less bezels, 99% of the time I use headphones so a 3,5mm jack is more a must for me.

To be honest... pixel 2 xl design is a perfect blend between small bezels and dual stereo speakers.

Well, my ancient Nokia X2-00 had stereo speakers, the sound was quite good actually, but I was still using earphones to listen to music. First, so that I don't hear the people and sounds around me, second, so that the people around me don't hear what I'm listening to. My black metal is my black metal, they can get their own. I see kids walking around holding their phones and listening to music, it's just annoying. They probably think it makes them similar to guys who drive and play loud music in their cars (equally ridiculous).
As for my smartphone, just one speaker and it's good enough. Music goes to earphones, movies and series sometimes too. If I'm on my bed watching a series or a movie, one of my ears is probably on my bed anyway so there's no need for stereo speakers. :-)
As for bezels, I don't care as long as they aren't too big and I can normally use the phone.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2017the reviews were done and the stereo speakers of the Pixel ... moreGood quality speakers already exist. They just refuse to use them. I've always wondered why don't they take the best one they've ever used and just put it in every single phone they make. Really sick of compromises and lack of common sense.

Minimal/bezeless means more chances to crack the screen. Huges bezels like Sony doesnt help either. V30 ,Mate 10 seems good to me. Pixel 2 too.

the reviews were done and the stereo speakers of the Pixel 2 XL sounds no better than the one on Iphone 8 plus. So Bezel less all the way and as for speakers the manufacturers should get more creative by improving quality of the single facing speaker able to push sound in more directions as well increase quality of the ear piece speaker.

Whackcar, 29 Oct 2017This ultra-thin bezel trend is absurd. Front facing stereo ... moreYea no idea why are people making a big deal out of it. Especially when at the same time they are embracing the ridiculous 18:9 aspect ratio with even taller displays (So they don't get a smaller phone either way...But they do get practically smaller screen). So just stich to 16:9 and there will be enough space for speakers without increasing phone's dimensions.

This ultra-thin bezel trend is absurd. Front facing stereo speakers are far more worth having than minimal bezels. Small bezels is not a feature. It's just a design choice. Stereo speakers on the other hand are unarguably a feature. That's all.

I voted for "better audio", but i don't think stereo speakers should be exclusively on the front panel. Actually the "hybrid" version Xiaomi and Huawei use sounds pretty decent too. Sometimes even mono speakers sound great, but i can't stand the tinny types they usually put. With current phones i have to carry not only a power bank, but a bluetooth speaker and that's quite inconvenient.
Az for the bezels, i prefer bigger bezels, mostly because it's more convenient with a fingerprint sensor on the front or just with a little extra space so you can hold it there if needed.
And of course it's also less fragile that way, which is also important.
So, bigger bezels...as long as the manufacturer knows what he's doing and doesn't waste all that space for nothing.

Am sure smart phones are not TV, monitors, laptops or even tablets group! Increase display size is just madness no more! According to Paul's opinion the stereo speakers r only gimmick option! To Paul: get Nokia 7710 just for test (if you can find it)

I'm on the paul's side :)
I listen my music with headphones and i have some wireless audio systems, so why should i care about the phone's loudspeaker?
But in Sony fanboys' logic by listen music with dual stereo speakers, you are an audiophile! LOL. They will tell you how awesome Sony technology is, (like LDAC, S Force, DSEE HX etc etc) yet they (Sony fans) just only use cheap headphones....

Stereo or mono it is not a deal breaker for many as they prefer to use their high quality earphones or headphones for music and video watching purposes. But still as Apple has shown with iPhone X, it is possible to have both bezel less design and stereo speakers in a single phone. Having huge bezels for the sake of just stereo speakers doesnt make sense anymore. When screen sizes are increasing day by day, pocketability will go out of hand with those big bezels. I will take a Note8/S8/iPhone X any day as i have very good quality headphones to make my music sound more blissful than a set of stereo speakers on phone. As the first person in this article pointed out, stereo speakers on phone are just there for a slight better sound output than a mono. Stereo speakers on a phone won't be used frequently, or at least they are not powerful enough to run a party so it is not soo big deal to have.

I frankly do not care if mono or stereo speakers other than how loud is the ringtone and if it hurts your ears or if it's decently audible.
But I would still go for a bit more bezels than this new trend. I really hate having nothing to hold properly, even sides are curved now, you literally just have the back to rest your fingers, and then try to come up with expensive front glasses to cover up for the inevitable falls.
Specially a bit more side bezels to the screens again please, and smaller ones as an option as well thank you. 5.5"~6" is that exact middle size that is huge on hand and pocket, easy to drop and make an expensive shatter mess, and still too small to be used for tablet like stuff like reading device or video player.
If I want a big screen, I go actual big at 7"+, my phone doesn't need to (can't) be big.

I thought about this for a while and what I need in a phone is a quality display, quality speakers, and a high quality camera like on the Pixel. I think the Pixel 2 is probably the best (though not the best display).
I really like Sony's offerings but their camera's post processing is not up to par yet. My wife has a Sony X Performance now, pretty good phone.
I have a Galaxy S7 and I am not a fan of its speakers though they're not horrible either.
I like bezels :).

Of course I would like to have stereo speakers. But I don't feel it's a absolute necessity due to one major problem with it. Even with the best speakers on a phone, how good can those tiny speakers possibly be. May be good enough to play games, but not good enough for music. That is why everybody wear phone for music. I upgraded from Z5P to Note 8. I kind of miss stereo speakers when i play games, however i strongly rather have the best display on Note 8. Still I always wore headphone when i listen to music on Z5P because its speakers sucked for music. In fact speakers on ALL phones suck. Not a single one of them is good enough proper music enjoyment. You cant just beat the physics.
