The notch, FaceID, gestures - this one will take some getting used to, but awesome it is, indeed.

And the fact you had to sit there and get upset by it. Do have nothing better to do with your life?

[deleted post]iPhones have not been the best phones in the world for a long time, even the Apple biased press have not put Apples phones as number one in recent years. As for copying, well what are the new stand-out features on the X, a bigger screen in a smaller package, wireless charging, fast charging, OLED screens, Face ID or waterproofing, all industry firsts? ......... No more like industry lasts. They cannot even get these old (but new features for the iPhone) right, the design is flawed an ugly notch and screen that in real use is not nearly as large as advertised; wireless charging that is the slowest on the market; fast charging that does not work out of the box; and an an inferior waterproof rating. Others have got all these and more, yet still manage to design in a headphone jack and fingerprint scanner.

I have enough performance in a lot of beautiful phones like those Mate 10/Pro, S8/+ Note 8, Mi 6, OP 5T, etc. If you take away the SoC, there's nothing special about it. In a couple of weeks there will be a lot of phones with 3D facial recognition and with that the gestures too. Even the cheapest Chinese will have it as declared by Ulefone, they move fast:

                          https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/ulefone-leak-1-e1509732539636.jpg

The tech is located in China where the iPhone is manufactured, don't forget that and what null the patents are there. The iPhone X is ugly and horrendous with that form, cointinous round bezels plus notch uni-eyebrow:

                          http://oi64.tinypic.com/16k2ofp.jpg

Not even crazy would spend a penny on that ugly thing.

Phones like this have been around for a good while and Apples while taking an awfully long time has not got it anywhere near right.

This review is more than fair. Too generous in fact. While I agree that the iPhone X looks and feels very premium (I’ll admit it’s one of the sexiest and most quality looking phones around) and offers an interesting take on interacting with a smartphone it really brings nothing new to the table AND there is a hefty price to pay. £999/$999 for the basic 64GB version is just too much for such an experimental phone (and out of reach for the most of us). Reviewers seem to discard price as a serious con for an iPhone (because it’s Apple - go figure), but always enthusiastically bring it up when premium Android phones are concerned (S8/Note 8, XZ Premium and most recently the Pixel XL and LG V30). Face ID is great but works only “most of the time”. AMOLED screen is gorgeous but hey - “burn in is normal with OLED displays and you should get used to your screen quality deteriorating over time if you want the best display in the industry”. Screen cracking as reported by new X users? All-glass phones all crack anyway so best to buy an expensive case. Display is huge but won’t show everything in full screen? Not even a con - we’re sure developers will figure this out in no time. And I find it very interesting that they bring up the learning curve associated with the X. Yes, this shouldn’t be a problem for geeks and tech savvy individuals but won’t work as well for everyone else. My mom for example loves her iPhone 6 for its simplicity but won’t be too keen on how sophisticated the X is with no home button and all the different swipes. No headphone jack? No need - everyone else is dropping them anyway. Excuses left and right. This is just pure marketing to convince us to fork out a thousand quid for what is an understandably good but overpriced phone. Samsung was first to bring face recognition and wireless charging to the masses, Sony had the waterproofing.. nothing about this phone is special except the lack of fingerprint sensor, home screen button and headphone jack. I bought myself a Sony Xperia XZ Premium Dual Chrome for less than half the price and am loving it. Excellent camera, quality build, superb battery life, Android Oreo, dual SIM, headphone jack, amazing 4K HDR display that won’t deteriorate over time, stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.0.. it’s got it all - for half the price! And I don’t ever have to scramble for an Apple cable every time I need to connect it to headphones or external speakers. The X is good - if you seriously have too much money to care

The tech it holds in unparalleled. You don't have to like Apple to admit basic truths. Are you blind or something?
