23 June, 2011
In case you were worried about application support for the N9, you have one less reason to worry now. Along with applications created specifically for the phone, you will even be able to run Android...

Myriad Alien Delvik runs smooth on Nokia N900 which is 2.5 years old.
There is a demo video on Youtube. I guess there'll be no problem with it ontop of Nokia N9.

running android apps is not a big task ..RIM playbook doing the same thing, running android apps.. but I m thinking meego will run it smooth ? dalvik machine run on linux in android os ...google developer did hardwork to ger a stable OS, almost took 4 year after the release ...when meego will stable to work proper on own apps ...it is a nokia publicity ads to attract people to buy a underdevloped OS phone in year 2012 that meego can run android apps.. what a fool nokia , customer is blind..

Bashing MeeGo right away eh? Well no OS has been perfect at their release date. Still is not. Come on how good was Android or iOS when they were first released. Compared to that MeeGo is way ahead. All you need for MeeGo is flash support and divix/xvid playback.

Next step should be able to run original Android applications (not repackaged).

just another attempt for nokia, to become cool again.sadly they wont be.

they have had there day. they had the chance to become awesome with N8, but flopped. great idea, great design, great looks. crap OS. why o why have you not learned.symbian is about advance as windows 3.11. compared to Andorid and IOS5.

maybe one day, the penny will drop.

This is rubbish. Even with this emulator, Android apps won't have system-wide access, so launchers and notifications systems won't work. Not the Android applications make this OS so great, but the integration of them in the platform, and the possibility of customizing it.
This emulator will save time of developers, as they won't have to port an entire application to a new platform, but just to repackage the .apk file.
Too bad that Nokia didn't exploited the huge potential of MeeGo, and didn't released more devices. It could have been an amazing platform, even better than Android.
Maybe some day, after I'll buy a SGS3 when it will be launched, I'll exchange my current SGS for a MeeGo device, to have some fun developing apps for it in Qt :)

Sammy, 23 Jun 2011Nokia used to blame Android 24x7 saying its all a crap. Now... moreDear Sammy, you are either ignorant or malevolent to say this. All that Nokia did was to create with MeeGo a true open platform so that companies like Alian Dalvik to be able even to run Android apps on a device like N9.It seems that you are blaming Nokia for creating such an incredible device because the possibility of running these apps on N9 it's Alian's "fault" but not Nokia's.

hey hey hey ... easy guys no one said that MeeGo is outdated!!!. and the move of making android applications possible to run on N9 is first to boost up N9 applicability between people. And second this shows how android platform is superior and forgivable in terms of usability of its own applications.

I m particularly disappointed with N9 and I ll never make the mistake of buying Nokia again.
1st reason:: N9 will not be released in India.
2nd reason:: No flash support in browser(the main thing i m look for in smartphone)
3rd reason:: No regular sim card support.
4th reason:: No DivX and Xvid support in video player.
5th and last:: No ecosystem and no update.(forever stuck on the same firmware)

if this app provide what it says then it'll be a big boost for meego, but the important thing is to lower the price, coz the way these failed symbian devices were priced in the past couble of years isn't incouraging! just lower the price, at least in the first 2 years- and make the costumers' base grow,, this and WP are your last chances in smart phones nokia, just don't blow them away!
