Google Pixel 2 photos/videos display major banding with LED lights around

14 November 2017
LEDs do not emit stable lights - they flicker - but most high-end phones do not have issues with this behavior.

The issue is actually pretty Minor IMHO.
It may be that the camera doesn't have both NTSC and PAL frame rates. Maybe because of some stupid optimisation. I guess it can be cured by a firmware.

Having said that, the sheer number of hiccups on the Pixel 2 phones is nothing short of AMAZING. They should Refund ATLEAST $100 to all the brace early adopters of these seriously beta phones.

All of these issues with Google,iPhone, any other big phone manufacturer is a byproduct of their unjustified price hikes. If this, or any of the above were a 300-400$ phone user might say, yeah but it's not a common scenario and it's a good piece of tech. Now....at 1k$ or close to it .... well...this phone better be perfect in any way and any scenario because i just payed a LOT of money for it.

AnonD-27765, 14 Nov 2017Google phones are the buggiest, most flawful Android device... moreI have Pixel one for one year, never had any of these issues.

Nexus 6P screen popup after nearly 2 years use due to battery swelling issue. Though I bought an extended warranty from third-party, they refused to take my case mentioning that I had broken the screen or called physical damage. Had to get it fixed outside by replacing the battery for nearly $35 (total charges for the battery and replacement)...

we know pixel 2 got superb grade in Dx0 mark, this mean that pixel 2 camera is so good/too sensitive so they can catch LED flickering, lol

LEDs are capable to emit stable lights. I don't understand why manufacturers make them to flicker (flickering is caused by PWM). It's just depending on what driver do they use for the LEDs.

Probably sign off with LG and HTC to trust them on keep the QC and any problem, depending on how much responsibility each should take for the kind of issues that came up. But after this, maybe Google should take charge. This is probably why Apple doesn't wanna make their own hardware in case problems like this occur, there's a whole lot to clean up.

And this is not only phone isue. Its caused by cheap/bad rectifier circuits in LED lighting.

Sammy recalling note 7's had nothing to do with Sammy being interested in people's safety,it was done solely to stop their reputation being totally ruined,to stop even more class action cases in a few differeent countries amid to avoid them being prosecuted by places like the EU and the UK et,for knowing allowing dangerous products to be sold.
The first thing Sammy did, long before the recall was to hire one of the major reputation minding firms to try and kill as many of the reports off as quickly as possible, Sammy are still employing them, notice how few or little of court cases or other legal actions have gained any or much media coverage, that's precisely what these reputation guard firms are paid to do..
Sammy had enough problems overall already at home, the last thing it needed on top was a massive number of further injuries or deaths caused by known dangerous Sammy products and all the bias coverage government lead prosecutions would have caused..

I sometimes wonder if low end and mainstream phones suffer as many problems as "flaghips" do or their users just shrug off with "it is just a 200-300$ device".
