Big surprise, he looks EXACTLY like her. Apple did say the 1:1,000,000 ratio would be different for twins and for "people who share similar heritage", like your immediate family. Check the keynote.

The fine print below the one in a million claim:
It COULD be one in a million, if you find the right million. :)

What happens when you try to unlock your fathers iphone this way, and Siri informs you:
"Sorry, you are not a relative" ?!

Simple.. "face unlock" is there to save the day.

You have to wonder if this gives credibility to the stories of them dropping the accuracy rate on FaceID because of supply issues.

Hilarious to see because apple is so flaunt that it would be so safe. Not so! Proper decline for apple :)

Aadrian, 15 Nov 2017Alright, so the mother set up a new face ID in good lightni... moreI agree 100%, but reason why the discussion about Face ID comes up is because Apple hyped it to no extent in the key note. They obviously want to sell this as new feature, what i don't get is why it's so important to have a new unlock method to replace one that was faster, convenient and secure enough for all practical purposes. Also why an unlock method is so important feature?? it just unlocks the phone, the real features should be what are additions post you unlock the phone, it it any better than 8 plus in terms speed? does that AR gimmick have any practical use to normal customer to justify additional 200$ or animoji for that matter, anything that gets old in the second week after buying the phone is not a value addition feature or even a feature for that matter, just a gimmick. OLED has its own issues, apple issued disclaimer about burn in and viewing angles (they conveniently not mentioned such thing in keynote, said this panel was first OLED to be good enough on Apple device, said all problems of oled don't exist in this display, off-course no manufacturer says flaws in the key note but at least do not go to the extent of claiming known OLED issues are totally non existent in iphone xl and later issue disclaimer opposite to that) which says a lot about what to expect.

Quite a non-issue here. The mother didn't set FaceID up right. She set it up the wrong way!

what i'm concern is the IR that always hitting your face when you wanna unlock you phone
like in the verge review of iphone x ( https://youtu.be/OvVKnC6gGtg?t=7m57s )
i mean your body consistently is affected by WIFI,bluetooth, phone signals and electricity radiation and now addition to this i guess we will see some increase of skin cancer on face caused by it in the long run :/

Fusion, 15 Nov 2017Still better than any Android!!No point making such blanket statements. Else, i can also say, every android phone is better than every iOS device.
Focus on the content of the story, please

Fusion, 15 Nov 2017Still better than any Android!!Why does a revelation such as this provoke such defensive comments such as this.
Who mentioned Android?
This is fundamental to the security of the iPhone X ......... and to be quite frank it's not that secure.
I say Apple have the potential charge of mis-selling hanging over them.

What a bulls**t statement "1/1,000,000 chance of a stranger unlocking your phone". Your face is not a unique 'fingerprint' of you.
I'd rather go with 1/150,000 chance of a stranger unlocking my phone (aka touch id) but only my finger can unlock it.
I wish Steve Jobs were here to fire Cook(ed)..
