Kangal, 19 Nov 2017Finally, a thread full of people that agree with me.
Sli... moreI even prefer bigger bezels - more comfortable to hold. More thickness too - more comfortable and better specifications/performance (If they want to achieve it).
But either way, i'd never buy a 18:9 unless i'm forced to like they forced the non-removable batteries on us.

Finally, a thread full of people that agree with me.
Slim Bezel and 16:9 are NOT mutually exclusive.
In fact, together it is the best combination!
And when I say Slim Bezels, I really mean "Slim" like 80% StB ratio. If you go around removing all the bezels you end up with weird camera notches, a slippery design, fragile construction, and that annoying accidental-touch issue.
Hell, even a 16:9 device with large bezels can be practically superior to a 18:9 device with slim bezels, case in point: S7 vs S8. Why do you think people are crying to get the bulkier AT&T S8 Active over the Standard S8?
I hope we get something like the Alcatel Idol 3 concept, done properly in 2019.

16:9 with thin bezels are achievable. 18:9 makes the phone look like a TV remote control. Hope sony will release an updated design for their compact phones with thinner bezels.

What do bezels have to do with aspect ratio? I don't see why 16:9 phones "must" have bezels and they have to be 18:9 for less bezels?
That's another madness they are trying to normalize.

It is an extreme engineering solution by MOEs to make very small footprint 'phablets' using bezels-less and bigger screen to body ratio designs, all with questionable real tangible benefits to users, other than 'it's cool' !

Anonymous, 19 Nov 201716:9 screen and slender bezels are NOT mutually exclusive.
... moreI find this bezel as total BS, aside from SONY that gets the brunt of the hate, phones like
Nokia, Motorola, BlackBerry & Google, and even the newcomer Razer, get totally ignored.

16:9 screen and slender bezels are NOT mutually exclusive.
This is just MOEs attempt to milk it by combining small bezels + small footprint (i.e. compactness) for phablet haters + retain diagonal inches size for phablet lovers.
