- Faster at opening apps
- Faster at loading websites,
- Faster in audio & video encoding,
- Better gaming performance for high res games due to the additional bandwidth as well as the superior GPU
- Higher end chipsets have better ISPs which lead to better imaging performance with the same sensor.
This is just from the top of my head.

Aslipundit, 22 Nov 2017Yes it IS!!
Much better GPU + Dual channel RAM at 933 MH... moreSustained performance = fully threaded load lasting usually more than couple of hours.
Large cores are very power demanding and with 4+4 cluster you have to optimize the workload. So multiple single threaded operations will finish at largely different times, 625 with 8x2.0 doesn't have this issue as all cores are equal. Specs aside, in practical terms how does any of this affects user happiness?

I 'd like to give my 2 cents also.
1. Happy with the battery capacity. Glad they kept the old 4000mAh from Redmi Note 4.
2. Don't mind the SD625. It is not a deal breaker for me. SD630/660 would be better, as long as it is as energy efficient as SD625. Most users do not play any heavy 3D games. I'm sure candy crush and clash of clans will play just fine on this chipset.
3. Bigger screen with 18:9 ratio is welcoming. I hope size didn't increase too much. If they managed to keep it to 150mm height like Redmi Note 4, it will be a blessing. Anything above 155mm will be too bulky i think.
4. Hope they didn't make any sacrifices to sensors though like gyro or compass.
5. Also hope they stepped up their camera game. Anything better than the plain 13MP standard camera chipset of Redmi Note 4 will be welcoming.
Looking forward for the official release. Hope it is soon!

Caltsio, 22 Nov 2017then which chipset do you think better for RN4? SD652? SD65... moreThe battery/performance balance is good with a 625. Maybe as they are using the same chipset the price will be alot lower/competitive? Will undercut alot of the competition like the honor 7x.

wqcr, 22 Nov 2017S650 is not faster than S625 in sustained operationYes it IS!!
Much better GPU + Dual channel RAM at 933 MHZ + 2 Large cores. What does 'sustained' performance mean? Which workloads call for 'sustained' performance apart from games, where the GPU is more important anyway?
A huge percentage of mobile workloads are bursty, which is why the SD 650 is in another league to the weak SD 625 with a single channel RAM and Adreno 320 level GPU. Hell, even the Helio X10 from 2015 is faster at 2.2 GHZ and dual channel RAM!!

Snapdragon 625 YET AGAIN!!!!??? Using a weak 2016 chipset in a phone the last quarter of 2017 in a supposed mid ranger is pure greed from Xiaomi. Even mediatek helio X23 would have been better. The Redmi Note 3 had better specs!!
Nothing new apart from the gimmicky 18:9 screen.
The value proposition of Xiaomi phones is decreasing with every new launch. Might as well as buy Samsung/LG/Motorola with similar specs.

LLL, 21 Nov 2017RN3 SD650 RN4 SD625 RN5 should just use SD450 then XDthen which chipset do you think better for RN4? SD652? SD653? the 65x series using the old 28nm when 625 using a newer 14nm + there's no other option beside using 625 on RN4. if xiaomi use the 65x again in RN4, people will complaining another thing which isn't a problem in SD625

I know why Xiaomi uses SD 625 again. First of all they don't want to cannabilize themselves and to loose market shares in the higher-priced segment. On the other hand they can't increase the price of a successor in the mid-range-market too much. In this segment you earn most of your money. In the third place many of the potential buyers just aren't familiar with the differences of the SOCs. The SD 625 is power efficient also because it's such a lame duck and stuttering quite often. In China they'lll surely build in the even worse Helio P 25...
