wqcr, 21 Nov 2017Can you name what's wrong with SD625? Practically speaking..It is underpowered compared to even Redmi Note 3 with SD650 and has a weaker GPU. The only thing going for it is the efficiency. If they could integrate a 14nm SD650 this would be perfect but I think that choice of replacement is SD660. Qualcomm knows that they've not positioned SD650 as premium as it ought to be hence they probably jacked up prices of its successor, SD660 just to keep 630 and 625 alive.

Yup, Xiaomi's choice of chipset for this one is pretty disappointing. At least there should be another variant with MTK X30 just like the Note 4 had an MTK X20 version.

I'd expect 630 to be more consuming, as it's rocking four 2.2GHz cores which runs with bumped voltage over 625's A53.
S625 consumes 3.2W at 100% multicore load (3.8V 0.85A).

Not aure that there is a place for the redmi 5 with the mi a1 around with better specs, same chipset and stock android. The only thing going for this is the price really.
Surprised about the same chipset. Qualcomm isn't really getting its 450/630 or 660 out very quickly. Thought that the 450 would be out more.

So disappointed to see Sd625 in RN5. Xiaomi is loosing its mojo slowly. Firstly, they should have used the SD 835 in MI note 3 as it is a flagship brother to mi6. Thought RN5 would be the true successor of RN3pro. Hope people don't buy RN5.

CM3, 21 Nov 2017What's with this SD 625 craze!!! They can at least use the ... moreWell for starters, even SD625 is having hard time to stay cool when stressed, considering SD630 and 660 sets base clock one notch higher, the phone would be overheating. That's why IMHO Xiaomi will put 625 in there - because it works and it's reasonably cheap while keeping good performance/power ratio.

If SD 435 in LG Q6 support FHD+(18:9) then its also possible for SD 625 to support FHD+!!
check the following link for the comparision!!
LG Q6 https://www.gsmarena.com/lg_q6-8756.php https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/435

AnonD-629390, 21 Nov 2017Bcoz sd 625 & 630 don't support 18:9 display.Sadly, the screenshot reads SD625. So, certainly Mi hasn't upgraded from SD625.

they will did not use SD660
because of mi note3
if they sport redmi note 5 with SD660 no one will buy mi note3
do not waiting for SD660 to see it in another device of xiaomi, because today xiaomi publish new version of mi note3 with 4GB ram
REDMI NOTE 5+ SD660 or 630 or 626+ SD CARD SUPPORT+ 4000Mah
with this options, no one will go to buy another device
so they decide to use an old chipset for keeping balance

The SD625 got me thinking... Xiaomi can't keep the same chipset as the last year for their biggest phone in the Indian market. So, I'm thinking maybe it's Redmi 5 Plus/Prime? Makes sense.
Also, the resolution is FHD+, which SD625 does not support. This leak looks quite fishy...
It's still early to predict Snapdragon chipsets for the Note 5 since Xiaomi launches it months after Mediatek variant.
I REALLY HOPE they don't increase the price of RN5 and keep it's starting price sub $175.
*fingers crossed*
