02 July, 2011
Nokia has finally decided to pull out of the Japanese market entirely once and for all. Although Nokia stopped supplying handsets to Japanese carriers in 2008, Nokia’s luxury brand of handsets – Vertu...

In 2 days time my 24 month contract is up, ive been looking at the nokia e7 and samsung gs2...its easy to see why nokia has lost its hold on the market...nokias hardware is still great, but symbian is dead in the water..meego looks good,,,, windows will put nokia on the same road motorolla went down...only android saved them.....only android or meego will save nokia from that road to ruin...but i think its too late....there allready halfway down that road,,,,,to survive nokia need to swollow their pride....but as we all know that wont happen,,,

Nokia is becoming more and more like a Microsoft controlled operation. They plan not to release the N9 in USA, UK, Spain, Italy, France, etc. Why not sell N9/Meego alongside Nokia Windows phonesand see which one platform sells better? That way, they'll have empirical evidence as to which platform to kill/abandon.

More and more, it looks like Nokia will be bought by Microsoft or atleast MS will have a controlling stake.

Elop doesn't have Nokia's best interest at heart. Microsoft comes first to him. He should be fired before it's too late.

Nokia is struggling and we all know that...Mango on the other hand is getting a lot of hype. Is all about timing I believe. Apple is driving the competition now and others will eventually find their place, one company will not provide everything. I personally own an iPhone and yes I couldn't be happier but that doesn't mean I am not open to other products.

When I first got my iPhone I was getting apps back and forth and after 6 months I deleted most of them. I do believe though the good ones or the ones that I personally use are making my life easier in many ways and some of these apps are only being developed so far at least for iOS.

And so give companies a chance to figure out their direction because things are moving very fast...

Nokia is just cleaning the house to start their new business model. Let's give Nokia some time to settle down as they can be digging their grave or paving the street to success, it's to soon to tell.

Yep! That's how it's done!! Cause pulling out of the global market is always a good thing!! Also adopting the crappiest, least supported OS on the Market ( WIndows Phone 7) is the way to go! Congrats once again folks!

when you see the japanese handsets, they are decades ahead of other peoples. when you think nokia you think 3210. outdated and underpowered.

shame but this had to happen. flogging a dead horse comes to mind.

Yet Another Android, 02 Jul 2011I agree that Harmatran does look good but thats about where... moreWith a single free opensource operatingsytem anyone can innovate and create anything they need/want, but they still can rely on, and help improve on, the stability and speed... of the basic operatingsystem. Competiton is not the only way to make things better, and it can actually be a problem when companies like Apple sue everyone else who tries to improve ideas that originally came from Apple.

Yet Another Android, 02 Jul 2011I agree that Harmatran does look good but thats about where... moreIf it is opensource, like Linux is, then there is no risk like a company like Microsoft or Apple, who are totally against everything free and opensource, take control over the users!
It is good that Google develop Android because OpenSource like MeeGo develop to slow if there is no strong company paying developers... Google should be able to provide Google-search and Maps... with every Android as long as the user can choose to not use these and as long as the Android source-code is totally free for everyone. MeeGo is good but the development is to slow. Competition should be between the free Linux against companies like Apple and Microsoft/Nokia. Dividing Linux into Android and MeeGo and Symbian only makes it weaker and less able to take ob the giants Apple and Microsoft.
