The Nokia 9's curved all-glass front looks like it warrants a case

Nokia's next flagship will have wireless charging and water resistance, but no 3.5mm jack.

Anonymous, 29 Nov 2017The point is a phone does not need any protection beyond it... moreTotally agree with you. So many people put those plastic/silicone cases on their phones, just so they can "protect their investment" - and I just can't stop thinking how bad they are with money management. They buy stuff they can't really afford and then try to keep it safe out of fear of needing to replace their phone. Which would leave them with a serious hole in their budget.

Whenever I see someone using a case on their phones, all I can really see is someone who can't actually afford said phone. If they drop it and break it, they would probably not be able to replace it the the next day and still have enough money to live decently for the rest of the month. And in case they might be able to replace it the next day, they would surely not be able to replace it again the next month.

So what that says about them is that they are not very responsible, and not very mature. Their priorities are wrong and it just makes them look, well... s+u pid.

Like someone buying an expensive pair of shoes, and walks around with their feet+shoes wrapped in plastic in order to "protect their investment from harm". Same with phones and cases.

Price to performance ratios are NOT equal.

5x price jump does not give you a 5x performance jump OR give you 5x the features. Sure the benchmarks look lopsided, but real world is nothing like those theoretical benchmarks.

Even the "free" carrier phones aren't all that bad these days.

Bewildered , 29 Nov 2017First of all due to coming off Windows and going to Android... moreWe really don't know the specifications of the Nokia 9 yet. It's all vague rumours so far, and they always turn out to be very much off the mark once it's time for release. It may very well have been upgraded to a Snapdragon 845, given how close it is to the commercial availability of the new Qualcomm processors.

And other than the benefits of waterproofing, a larger OLED display and far smaller bezels, the camera seem to be a main focus of this flagship. That's why there's a bump there, unlike on the Nokia 8 (which also suffered from poor camera performance).

So yeah, you're definitely getting your moneys worth compared to the Nokia 8, or other flagships. We'll just have to wait and see what the final specifications and performance ends up being.

Aslipundit, 29 Nov 2017No 3.5 mm jack, NO buy! Nokia joining the apple bandwag... moreFirst of all due to coming off Windows and going to Android, I have to check the specs of ALL phones as so many are being released

The Nokia 8 like the Nokia 9 is fitted with Snapdragon 835
              Current flagships the S8, OnePlus5, Oneplus5T, Pixel 2 also incorporate Snapdragon 835

It is the non expandable Pixel and Oneplus5 which being non expandable, I am put off by

All have similar benchmarks OnePlus5, Nokia 8, then Pixel
The Nokia 8 is the better option as expandable with similar price

Now more is known about the Nokia 9 it costs 25% more at €750 euro the 8 €600 with 0.2 larger display and waterproofing https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8867&idPhone2=8522

Many have lived without waterproofing, but for the life of me I can't see what other benefits there are in getting the Nokia 9 over the Nokia 8, the benchmarks for all snapdragon 835 are going to be so close that only side would you see a difference

AnonD-690674, 29 Nov 2017Nokia sucks again, wrong flash positioning giving it ugly l... moreThe bezels are actually about on par with the Pixel 2 XL, in terms of relative size, in some renders: https://i.imgur.com/Z2FjJks.png
In other renders, they look even smaller: https://i.imgur.com/mzGylzX.jpg
If you instead look at the leaked front glass, they look MUCH smaller: https://i.imgur.com/4fC6ygC.jpg

Bottom line: these off-brand case manufacturers have no clue how the phone will look in its final form, and neither do we.

On top of that, the flash is symmetrically placed opposite the third OZO Microphone. It's a good placement: https://i.imgur.com/o7FmrgC.jpg

Oh, and the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think they've made it really pretty. I prefer good camera hardware with a bump over the junk many other companies push out just to have a flat back.

Nokia sucks again, wrong flash positioning giving it ugly looks at back side, huge bezels again. Flop design statement for a flagship upcoming model. Suggest to hold the release and redesign the phone.

No 3.5 mm jack, NO buy!

Nokia joining the apple bandwagon for no reason. There is overwhelming evidence that a majority of smartphone users prefer a 3.5 mm jack, and for good reason.

Blindly following a trend or a fad is poor strategy/

Yes my phone do drops occassionally but that does not mean that it broke to the point of being unusable.. It just got some nicks and scratches which i could easily buff away in my spare time.. The point here is enjoying the phone as it was designed.. Some people hide their phone inside hideous cases just to make sure that they are pristine because they want to sell it later because they NEED to recover their money which means they shouldn't be able to afford it in the first place.. For work I use a different and cheaper phone because as an engineer at site my work environment is harsh and these fragile flagship won't survive the given condition.. And for your information, a $200 phone is not in any way deliver subpar experience.. Nowadays even entry level phones deliver 90% of the experience a flagship provides.. Ha your "ferrari" is looking good and pristine in its bubble wrap.. While I enjoy the drive of my "porsche" every day

Intelligence comes when you stop calling names or say that someone is a kid cause he's opinion to match with yours.

I have hard time expressing my self in this English language as it's not my native language and in the writing for this language is serious pain.

My Leagoo Kiicaa Mix works great. I can multitask and have no slowdowns. At least i have not got any for over a month now. I cant imagine someone work or is specialized in budget phones and then talk so much crap about it.

I am not clumsy and i dont use case on my phones. I have dropped only one phone in my life and have broken the screen of it. but that was in the time when there was Sony Ericsson phones.

I buy my self a phone for what i need it for. I dont need it to have a brand name on it. Specs wise i see better options with low price range then Nokia phones. Or Sony phones or Samsung and so on. When i was looking for a new phone few months ago i was even looking Sony Xperia XA cause of the compact size of the phone. But then i found site like Gearbest that sells unknown brands. One Plus was unknown brand to few years ago, but now they have made reputation and everyone understands it's quality. While Nokia dont exist like it use to and now it's a start up company then they first need few years in the market to make reputation and then we can talk about quality.

Same thing with this Leagoo i have. While holding it on hand it feels same quality like Lumia series but with better hardware. My last Lumia was 830.

This Leagoo Kiicaa Mix have 5.5 inch screen with 1080p resolution and 3GB ram and 32GB rom. Yes that MTK6750T is somewhat close to SD4xx or even 620/625 as i have read something about it.

Thing is that when Nokia would have made better hardware phones with windows on them i would of bought new win phone cause i like the OS and it's different then every other Android or IOS. But win phones are dead and even new phones from Microsoft will use android on there devices.

Os support and updates are meaningless. I can root new rom on my device if i need that android 8 sometime in the future. But it already have android 7 on it so i dont see the point. And as this phone have been out for only 2 months and still cant find news about it to be crap quality or anything more negative on the device except that it's speaker for making calls is in a weird place.

Even in youtube reviews everyone who have made review of this phone will say it's best device for that low money.

I went with unknown brand cause i dont see a point to play more for android phone just cause it has a old good brand name and i have supported that brand for long time. Especially cause Finns are my neighbor country and we have similar language.

I can do everything i need with this phone so try please and explain what am i missing out that i dont buy Nokia phone or some flagship brand phone ?
