Android manufacturers remove the 3.5 mm port because it's a port that takes up a lot of space, and the USB-C port can already fill the purpose of a headphone port.

FinnishInquisition, 04 Dec 2017Samsung has far from the best camera on the market though. ... moreDude, I also have Nokia 1020 and even Nokia 808. I know what hump can be. But also those phones was greatest cameras for their times.
I do not like rounder corners on Nokia 8. Nokia 6 with slightly little rounded frame will be best. 8 is too rounded for my taste.
and then you'll have space for side FPS. It is much more convinient, for example - when it is on table or desk.
Nokia 9 is looking like Nokia 8 with bigger camera hump - gigantic!

By the way, I'm from Europe, don't need to work (yeah I'm rich) so everything you said doesn't apply. Sorry to disappoint you ;)
Also I'm typing this from my Rosso XZ Premium that I just bought last week. Not everyone here is from India you know.. Geezz

Yann, 04 Dec 2017Not agree.
Samsung is doing great job with cameras, withou... moreSamsung has far from the best camera on the market though. They also do some pretty atrocious oversaturating, oversharpening and overcontrasting to compensate.
A 1-1.5 mm hump isn't that bad, and the opinion of looks is subjective. I understand you personally dislike it. I don't mind it myself. I've had the Lumia 1020 in the past with the arguably biggest hump ever, and the wobble never bothered me.
And yes, the Nokia 8 camera quality was awful. I don't know if that was a hardware or software issue. The Nokia 8 also didn't have a camera hump.
Putting the FPS on the side isn't necessarily the best option for the design (you need a big button, which means you can't have rounded corners). I wouldn't want that blocky design, but again that's subjective.
The 3.5 mm port adds cost and design limitations to the device. Razer mentioned the removal added an estimated 500 mAh to their device, while Apple added IP67 245 mAh of battery and a larger Taptic Engine, and Essential got smaller bezels and 10 % more battery. For people that don't the port, that trade-off is a huge advantage.

Phones with 3.5mm jack are majority on the market.
I understand Apple - they do it for the money - lightining port is their property and they receive huge amnount of money for every cable with it.
But Android phones??? It's just stupid following the Apple policy, without to receive such revenue.

These companies have done a lot of market research before they make these decisions, and concluded it wouldn't impact sales negatively.

If the price of the Nokia 9 is really USD635, then this will sell like hotcakes. I'll be one of those who will get it.

Samsung is doing great job with cameras, without humongus camera humps. It is understandable to have small hump, but this is ridiculous. And looks ugly. Not to mention that whan you put your phone on any surface will wobble as hell. Also camera performance of Nokia 8 is far from Samsung and Apple - not fan of eighter.
Slim bezels can put FPS on the side as Sony, where is much more convinient.
And for the 3.5mm jack - the phone isn't too small to need the space inside so badly. Even Xperia XZ compact have it.
And I was NOKIA fan years ago.

Humm I was a bit interested in the 9, but after seeing it doesn't have the 3.5mm jack, not anymore. They can keep it.
Same thing goes for the SD card slot.
Sorry Nokia..
When these morons that took out the jack will see their idea wasn't good at all and the phone is not selling because of that, they will go bananaz :))

Greedy HMD global jyst cannot set 560$ tag for it's flagship. I'd predict 850-900 usd price tag. And maybe 560-600 for 8.

Honestly, these rumours strike me as completely made up.
Why would they launch a "new" Nokia 8 only 5 months after the first one, seemingly with the same internals? And why would they price their flagship Nokia 9 lower than the Nokia 8 at launch? That's just nonsense.

Just my opinion but nevertheless... I don't think Nokia knows what its doing. Maybe they've been out of the mobile phone business for a bit too long... But every new device they've released so far always seems like its "so close, yet just missed the mark" . If they're planning on releasing tiny sensor 13 MP dual camera setup's in 2018 --- they might as well call it a day and give up now. 5.5" screens for their flagship when just about every other competitor is releasing 6"+ screens. Maybe third time will be the charm for Nokia / HMD ... if they're lucky.

Yann, 04 Dec 2017Humongus camera hump, iPhone like. No 3.5mm headphone jack... moreIf you want a good camera without having a really thick device, a camera hump is the only option. If you want tiny bezels, moving the fingerprint scanner to the back is the only option. And the 3.5 mm port is being phased out, so that's just something to get used to.

I'm not convinced about this leak though. Why would the flagship be cheaper than the lower-specced model?

Red, 04 Dec 2017Am I the only one who is not feeling the comeback of Nokia?... moreit's not only you who feel that. OEM whether its from china or not is no problem for me, what's important is the design itself. IMO, we can still feel nokia's touch in Nokia 6 design, but Nokia 7 or 8 are just like another typical chinese copycat design, we can't "feel" the nokia's touch there.
