They are already playin... moreNaaahh, Apple keeps their SoCs to themselves and don‘t sell them overpriced to manufacturers so they are definitely not Intel. Performance-wise, it is true that Apple is like Intel and the rest is like pre-ryzen AMD, but nothing else. And soon enough, they will also use their own SoCs in their Macs and even the Mac Pro.

They keep renewing and renewing every year like next year smartphones with A75 compared to this year's A73, and from 10nm to 8 or 7nm next year, but still I would say that their SNAPDRAGON chipsets have the biggest performance gap is during the announcement of SNAPDRAGON 820

And no, the DAC/amp doesn't drain any more power when it's in the headphones instead of in the phone. It does the exact same job, and uses as much power as before, measured in milliwatts.

The performance boost from Haswell to Coffee Lake is too low for 3 gen difference. A lot of gamers are happy with a Broadwell-E CPU and a Pascal GPU. Coffee Lake is the living proof of your statement;
How they increase perfs? Overclocking and adding cores. Cores that are disabled or at a very low TDP most of the time. They are at a limit here.

And after there were claims that Qualcomm would produce at TSMC. Maybe this would happen only next year, for 855?

Headphones I can sleep with that have 4+ drivers and decent sound quality. And don't cost $1000. Currently there aren't any, as far as I know. Because you have to put a DAC inside headphones, which drains battery dramatically, and on top of it you need a headphone amp (for most headphones with decent sound quality), which also drains power. Basically, you'll need to carry a phone in each of your ears to be able to throw away 3.5mm jack. Or a phone-sized device. Just look at those fancy DAC/AMPs - they're typically bigger than phones.
Why would you want to use DAC/AMP in the first place? Music quality is incomparable between wireless headphones + typical iPhone and 3.5mm jack + dac/amp + decent music quality + decent headphones (typically $300+).

If you are into one plus and have, say, a one plus one, you may go with OP5T but if you have say a OP3T or newer device, you can wait. BTW I would suggest avoiding one plus and xiaomi and go for a reliable device such an S8 or an S8+ if you can afford those over the OP5T.
