I have some issues with 3.5 mm jack on my Mi4c. It randomly detects earphones without putting anything in the port. So I firstly put a fake jack into the port and with SoundAbout I rerorouted the sound to the speaker and earpiece. And this way I wasn't able to put earphones in the jack. Thus I bought type-c to 3.5 converter, but obviously there is no DAC in the converter or my phone doesn't work with this and I didn't succeeded to use it. Afterwards I removed the fake jack and bought 3.5 mi button and now I use it with the Mi switch application. But it pops from the phone and everybody is asking me why my phone has an antenna.

bluetooth drains battery. That's my only concern. If I'm out the whole day, I wouldn't prefer bluetooth since i will need to charge at the middle of the day.

I use 3.5mm jack everyday, just did this morning too, and will not purchase a phone without it.
In my selection of phone, I focus on media quality.
I wanted the HTC One X, but due to lack of 3.5mm jack, I'll have to choose the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 (if it has better slow motion recording), or I will go with Galaxy S7...
So, dear companies, lose 3.5mm, lose sales. Its your choice, so make a good one.
I've been insisting time and again, that to gain a thin profile & water resistance, mobiles must move the 3.5mm jack to the outside, attaching it with rubber band attachers, over exposed metal contacts.
With this we can have thin body, useful internal space and water resistance, all easily.
And you can add USB-C Audio as an option. Cool, right?

Carl j, 11 Dec 2017Or instead of removing 3.5 audio jack why not make it small... moreAlso, microsoft proposed a way to use 3.5 mm jack in half the space. So, that could be a better way for companies that are planning to remove our beloved audio jack.

Or instead of removing 3.5 audio jack why not make it smaller 3.5 to 2.5 just like the sim we used back then same sim but smaller
Old nokia phones used 2.5 audio jack for their phones

I have HTC10 and then I switched to U11.
I also have the dongles from U11, and one day I plug it to USB port on HTC10.
To my surprise the sound quality on USB type C is significantly better than to plug the same earphones on 3.5mm jack
Since that, I never use the hole on HTC10, I always listen to music with the dongle plugged into HTC10 type C port.
YES, I live with dongle because it sounds better
I heard HTC dongles have its own DAC and amplifier, and my ears don't lie.
It sound GREAT!

no Jack = no Rose, means your audio life might die, BT has a lot of interference, specially gaming like ML, AOV and others will notify you about BT interference, and many more, USB-C? nah

There will come a time that the headphone jack will be obsolete. But now is not yet the time, nor is it anytime in the near future.
No headphone jack = more wear on the USB-C or Lightning Port = earlier failure and replacement. It becomes even more difficult and expensive given that most phones have sealed in design which requires difficult disassembly of the device. Not to mention you have to charge two devices instead of one, creating more eWaste.
