I think this is still a pretty light and small thing to carry with me. Kind of too thin without any case, so I have to use a silicone case to provide some grip. And aluminum is another reason for the case, slippery as h*ll.

The interesting part is the shift from mass to size.
It shows that after 2006 phones started to get smaller but use heavier (premium?) components. And after 2009 the phones got even more heavier (premium-er?), and I suspect this is because of the iPhone 4/4S and Nexus 4 getting metal sides with glass faces. And that after 2012 phones kept the same density (materials), but grew larger thus increasing the mass proportionally. Then in 2016 phones grew slightly smaller, but got a lot heavier and I suspect this is due to thicker-glass phones like the LG G6.
It's all in the trend.

I like a good weight on my phone. Don't like paper weight phones as they don't feel sturdy

The more recent the more internal space is crammed and heavier materials used. The lerger battery then makes allot of the weight and other metals like the cpu cooling. Besides, while the volume is almost constant, the surface area (or screen size) has been increasing causing structural glass and metal surplus

The weight aspect is imperceptible as we feel weight not on its totality (unless sth is *too* heavy) but in per square inch trype of sitauation. Meaning that modern phones actually *feel* lighter than ever *because* their profiles are bigger.
(Also volume is an unreliable way to show size, again the human brain mostly cares about the first 2 dimensions, depth, aka thickness is secondary, unless it gets too out of ... hand).
Phones are getting *bigger* (basically they are replaced by phablets) in our perception, not heavier. Get your article straight.

Prefer sturdy design like the Xperia Z1 and Z2, alot durable than phones today with aluminium body which can bend more easily.

While samsung fans around the world freaked out when there has been an iPhone 7 delivered with an exposed battery at the times when Galaxy Note 7 exploded. Even though this is really a common thing with lithium-ion-batteries, I even have a Xperia Z1 Compact with such a battery lying around.
