I love lightweight phones, the best in recent years being the Xiaomi Mi 5 at only 129 grams! I agree that phones are putting on weight rapidly. The Xiaomi Mi 6 - same size display, is a gross 168 grams. That was a major turnoff for me and one of main the reasons why I didn't buy it.

Like others has already pointed out; WTF? the Galaxy S6 never suffered from Apple's bendgate. That was Apple and Apple alone who never stress tested their phone around the volume buttons.
Also, the massive weight gains since 2011 can be blamed on Samsung. :)
Had Samsung not been genuinely courageous and made a phablet we'd all still been running around with 3.5" screens, squinting on miniature Netflix streams.

Lol when was the s6 going through the whole bendgate thing, at the time I never read anything concerning the s6 was having problems with that.

And the better internal architecture has contributed to that by reducing the air gapes between internal component.
