Upgrading new software with more resource hungry system or apps on old same hardware is like trying to pull a truck with trailer with Smart or WV Polo. Me got money, but if phone doesn't have a removable battery- it not worth the money. Others ask, why? Simple answer- nowadays buy phone for around 400 euros or more and after 1,5-2,5 normal to heavy use You need to replace battery, but wait, Your battery is sealed, so just need to buy a new one. For me and for some other people phone is mainly used for calls, messages and some internet, but with today marketing we are forces and do what we are told, mainly sadly- buy things that we don't need with money that we don't have (or spend big percentage of our saved money just for mainly advertisements consequences).

Battery may or may not slow down your iPhone. It probably does. But the thing that will certainly slow down the device is installing a new OS on an older hardware. It’s the updates folks. Stop updating the damn iphone. I love iPhone but keep the original OS on it, and 5 years latter the phone will be as fast as the first time you used it (you may indeed need to replace battery after 3-4 years, but hey, it’s fast). Test it. Don’t buy their “you need to update for security reasons” bull*&^%. All phones (android and iphones) are compromised with backdoors anyway (read Snowden docs). So fuck security. You buy your phone to use it, not to be safe. It’s not a safe place to keep personal information. Want “the latest iOS experience”? buy the latest phone (no need really... they change almost nothing anyway, but you know best)...
moral of the story : NO MORE UPDATES!

Quite amusing to read this from a website, which is part of other tech sites that made fun of removable backs as ugly and then went on to drool over metal/glass back phones, which lumped those non sealed batteries as part of the ship that sailed away.
Maybe you should add a follow up review one year later instead of a week of usage on your battery tests. Obviously, brand new batts last quite a long time. Lol

Very different from the cheap ugly ... moreFunny thing was that "premium" S6 was just for show. Owners either
* bought a newer phone
*sent their S6 to another person to change batteries
*or make themselves look like dumb ones with wires dangling from their pockets or holding a 2x-3x thicker power bank so their sexy phones will not die
Batteries degrade within a year or less for heavy users like me, not like those posers who pass off their light to med usage as heavy use.
My sealed batt phone using friends are always hugging walls or connected to bricks due to their TRUE heavy use.

Sounds more like an iOS issue for wrongly underclocking cpu. After all iOS controlls CPU speeds and power maintenance, it just a bug in iOS, nothing to do with a battery

And not to mention that reducing clock speed does NOT save battery, because the task has to be processed anyway. So lower clock speed only means longer processing time = the power consumption remains the same.

Planned obsolescence! Everyone who buys phones with non-removable battery, you deserve it. You waste your $1000s on throwaway disposable phones. If you weren't buy those phones, it would enforce manufacturers to use removable batteries.

This is aimed at the masses.
And the great thing, since warranties don't cover battery wear, it means people have to get that expensive (rip-off) Apple Care to cover it. Or third-party extended warranties that don't insure your phone, will have to be voided by cheap phone repair centres.
Either way, its good for Apple. Forces people to spend more money upfront to Apple, forces people to void their warranty giving Apple an exit from responsibilities, or forces people to upgrade their phone. At least it stops/slows occurrence of iPhones that are heating up, constant reboots, and generally having a bad time for the user experience.
The only viable solution would be removable batteries like the Samsung NOTE 4, LG V20, or even the LG G5... but they aren't IP68 waterproofed. If they can be, then that would be the practical progress people wanted, but instead we're getting phones with smaller cells that are non user-accessible.
