Soupape50, 11 Dec 2017Locked batteries are planned obscolescence but it's one of ... moreYou do know that other components also wear and tear, such as flash memory having a limited number of read /write cycles, do you?

Locked batteries are planned obscolescence but it's one of the only cases where people actually know it. You know that your battery will die sooner or later. With the Galaxy S6, everyone got upset with the lack of MicroSD slot but no one cared about the non-removable battery.

And you know why ? Because people are overconsumers and they don't mind changing their phone every 2 years. What a world we live in.

Buy an used Note 3 with a fresh genuine battery, put a custom rom on it and you're good to go.

Just curious, does this extend to android devices too? Because I have A Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 LTE and the battery life is bad, doesn't charge to 100% and crashes / reboots multiple times when the battery goes down below a certain level... Also the Performance is pretty bad, is slow and stutters quite a bit.. Its not all down to Touchwiz, I know that for a fact.. There's more to it.. Could this be it?

Its a reliable trick to make their users buy a new iPhone model. They should of said "your battery needs replacement and cpu will be clocked down"

This is pretty much more of planned obsolescence, making the phone slower as the battery aged, either to force the user change the battery or completely upgrade their device
