Yann, 21 Dec 2017Another kid... Listen. To buy a phone, i need the phone to... moreI think you are a truly a Nokia hater. But Iam the real guy who knows about Nokia. Should I show it to you???

    1. Lumia phones are the worst phones ever because the build quality is feels plastic too cheap and the Windows OS have no apps at all.

    2. Symbian Nokia phones are the most overpriced phones of all time despite they sold over 250million cause the OS is great. And the camera on the N series are better than the Lumia phones and today modern phones.

    3. Nokia is not only a phone company, there are so many division of Nokia. The real Nokia is who makes the network of 1G, 2G, 3G and upcoming 5G.

    4. No matter if the iPhone X, Google pixel 2, Samsung Galaxy note 8 or Huawei Mate 10 are the best camera, Lumia 1020, 808 and all the N series phones made the history, not a trend!!!! Those 2017 phones best camera are just a trend.

    5. Almost all of their commercial are very motivational which runs the money for Nokia very well. If you look today's commercial, it's always about fighting and mocking each other to see who's the best.

    6. It's one of the oldest brand in the world!!!! So respect the elder brand cause they are very wise.

Regardless you hate Nokia or not, it's Nokia who changes and makes a world a better place just like Mercedes who invented the car, Boeing who made the plane, Sony who made the camera.

Because at that time of Nokia's death, Nokia sold it's iconic sensor(Not Zeiss) to Apple for their iPhone 6, not Microsoft. The Zeiss optic and the pure view was only to Microsoft.

About Nokia 6, its already release in Indonesia. How about Nokia 8?

Yeah, Nokia using LG P-OLED, hope dont have any issues.

Yann, 22 Dec 2017Hey lepricorn, I don't speak about LG V30 shmock! Pixel 2 ... moreAnd still here you are, struggling to understand the difference between the optics, the software and the sensor of a camera.

A camera needs a couple of solid core components to be truly good: optics, sensor and software.

          - Google have made incredible leaps in software, but perform poorly in lower light due to lacking optics and sensors. A larger sensor, and improved optics would help them here, but that would create a bigger hump. The optics of the first Pixel was downright abysmal with its green halo effect, which Google tried to remove in software instead of fixing the optics.
          - Sony have an amazing sensor quality, but still get poor output due to the small sensor size and awful software. They too would benefit from a larger sensor, which in turn would require a larger camera protrusion due to the lens stack having to sit further from the sensor.
          - Nokia/HMD have great optics on their camera flagships, but their later models seem to have great difficulties with software, and their sensor choices seem to be sub-par. So while their optics are fantastic, and is likely to be even better in the Nokia 9, they need to invest in better sensors, and even more importantly: software.

So hopefully you can now understand that great optics are always justified for a good camera. It's why stand-alone cameras are so thick. But great optics alone doesn't make a camera the best in the market, you need great sensors and software as well. So having a hump doesn't magically mean "best camera ever". It just means one of the components of the camera are good. One of the most important components.

Oh, and that Pixel 2 vs Nokia 8 "camera hump":

Pixel 2 XL and Galaxy S8 do not have humps. Even Pixel 2 to have one, it is smaller than Nokia 8 and the quality of the photos and videos is mountains ahead, not I'm favor of Nokia!
You telling that Nokia 9 do not need to beat them in camera?!? What a nonsense! Then why you need HUMONGUS hump? For midrange camera??? Or for fashion reasons?
Once you telling that good cameras need humps, speaking about 808 and 1020, then you telling that do not need to beat PIXEL and Galaxy?!?
You speaking just to make wind with you mouth.
Kiddo, you've a lot to learn. Still, you're one boy, trying hard to proof how much he knows, but you just showing you lack of knowledge. And that's easy to say it kid.
            Nonsense is your middle name.
Cheers and bye. You don't deserve my time anymore.

Yann, 21 Dec 2017Enough kid. You don't know what you talking about. Nokia 9... moreThe Nokia 8 has as much of a camera hump as the Pixel 2 or V30. You literally haven't got a clue what you're rambling on about, "old man". Take some basic physics classes and you'll learn why smartphones need camera humps if you want them to be any good.

Your nonsensical claims that the Nokia 9 need to beat all other current smartphones to warrant its hump is just that; nonsense. Make it flatter and lose the camera quality. Give it a hump and improve its quality.

              IT'S THAT SIMPLE.

Nokia 9 is on way to proof itself. Will see. I told you. If it is better than Pixel, Galaxy S8 and iPhone X, will apologize to you.
                But it is very unlikely.
And I told you - Nokia 8 was Zeiss branded with 7.9mm thickness and camera hump, but was far from Pixel and Galaxy S8 WITHOUT camera hump in the same thickness.
Shut up pls. Enough nonsense from you.

If you remember, most of Nokia's phones were solid minimalistic designs, like HMD's current portfolio. Their "WOW!" phones weren't targeted at the majority audience, and had designs with large camera protrusions or other design concessions.

The Nokia 9 was meant to be the flagship with a "WOW", yet here you are saying it shouldn't have a hump... You can't have the cake and eat it too. Either you want a "WOW" or you want a solid minimalistic design. You can't have both with currently available technology.

I think what Yann's trying to say is these new Nokia android devices lack the "WOW" factor that the old 808 or 1020 had. Their cameras thus far have failed to stand out among the crowd. And I'd be more than willing to put up with a camera bump if it's clearly the best phone camera available (though I gotta have water proofing but that's just me).

Yann, 21 Dec 2017Neither have you. Noone knows what will be the quality of N... moreExactly. Nobody knows what the camera quality will be like on the Nokia 9. So don't bash the camera size when we don't know. The reported size is 7.5 mm for the body with a 1.4 mm camera protrusion. That's the same hump as the iPhone X, which performs far better in lower light than the Pixel 2 and lightyears better than the Note 8. Samsung isn't even near the top contenders in the smartphone cameras.

So if you want good camera quality in all lighting conditions, expect a hump. If all you care about is thinness, get a smartphone without a hump. It's really that simple.

And supporting several devices with software updates in a timely manner is made much easier with Project Treble. HMD have already shown their dedication to software support. They won't release more devices than they think they can support, and Project Treble just made that easier.

Their software support is likely also one of the reasons their devices are more expensive than cheap Chinese brands. Having entire software teams dedicated to a device for several years isn't free.

I hope to be top player on smartphone market.
But there is huge way to go to that point. HDM need to follow the roots of NOKIA phone not only with durability, that is great, but also with quality of the whole package - design, camera, features - all refined to perfection.
Placing so many models on the market - 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 now 9 - they do not have such huge development department to spend so many resources to give short timing in updates etc.
HMD/NOKIA/ needs to release/support 2-3 models per year. That's how Apple, despite the huge resources they posses, succeed to give such long life in supporting devices.
Hope NOKIA to make the same.

Listen. To buy a phone, i need the phone to catch me with something - great camera, great design, great features. I care about my devices.
So, what can catch me in Nokia 8 - nothing special in the design. Just another Android phone. Years ago, when I bought my Nokia 930 - it was amazingly designed phone - recognizable from away. Camera - disappointed a LOT! Choppy and unreliable camera performance, camera app is a CRAP - total $hit. What left? Great OZO sound, but with poor video quality - naaaahh. Bothie? Are you kidding me?
Even Nokia 930 had GREAT video sound capabilities, thanks to HAAC microphones inside. But also had much better video quality for it's time.
