Ever since Note 7 fiasco, Samsung are very touchy on the mention of the word "battery", like a weak nerve.

What can be answered as "No, we don't slow devices with old batteries", instead becomes an essay of explanation as to how much they take care of the product quality & safety measures itself.
Whereas, we all know Performance (software) tuning is not even related to quality/ safety measures of the product. :D

no name1, 03 Jan 2018woww u mean ur lag phone is 6+ or 6s+?? it is quite imposib... moreim not even complaining. hahaha! and it was just the plus version. not the "s+". and yeah it did lag like that before i reset the phone, otherwise i wouldn't think of resetting the phone in the first place (just think of the time i spent transferring my backup to my laptop). resetting it did take some lag away, but it was still there. dont worry, as i've said, it was my personal experience. that doesn't mean all iPhone 6+ would end up like mine. i really did think that there was something wrong with my phone back then, but i didn't bother taking it to a service center since my S8+ was arriving soon.

Carloss, 02 Jan 2018Personally, I owned a Samsung S5, HTC One M8, iPhone 4, 4s,... morewoww u mean ur lag phone is 6+ or 6s+?? it is quite imposibble to have ur kind of lag.... something must be very wrong with your phone should go to apple authorize centre instead of complaining here.... take half or 1 min to open camera apps thats impossible even iphone 4 or 3gs is faster than that.... if ur issue is true it is already big headline noww... hahahaha naive.

Personally, I owned a Samsung S5, HTC One M8, iPhone 4, 4s, and 6+. I currently use a Samsung S8+ for about 3 months now. For android devices, I think those "lag" occurs depend on how you use your phone.

Here would be my breakdown of my usage of these phones (personal experiences though):

-iPhone 4, it was my phone during my college years, from i think 3rd year until I graduated. up until now it is still running. i changed to iPhone 4s for about a year coz my 4 was only 16gb at the time (my iPhone 4s was 32gb). After 2 years of Apple ecosystem, i wanted to try Android, mainly because I don't want to be too dependent on iTunes on transferring music and videos, i don't have a laptop at the time being and I initially viewed Apple as a selfish system since it was hard back then to transfer files other than using iTunes. 1st payroll, i Bought a S5 which lasted me for atleast 1 and a half year.

-Before i gave my S5 to my sister (coz my M8 will be coming), I haven't experiences any "true" lag from it. Occassional stutters occur, yes, but I think its mainly because of Touchwiz per se (being it is heavily bombarded with features that most of the time i don't use). Haven't experienced auto shutdown due to battery fault (the phone is 1 and a half year old before i changed to my M8), and haven't changed the battery. And yes the phone still lives up until today but will soon be put to the shelves coz my sister will be changing her phone soon.

-HTC One M8, best phone I had before it broke (battery port was broken coz of an unfortunate event). Lasted me for 2 and a half years. No lags, no major and even minor stutters, performs faster than my mom's iPhone 6 (which, at the time of testing, the iPhone 6 came into the market just about 2 months). BUT, the battery life of my M8 only lasted me for a good 2 years. the 6 months left before it totally broke down, my phone was shutting down at 20%. I decided to not fix it coz I will be changing my phone to iPhone 6+ soon (got a laptop now so I can be semi-dependent on iTunes).

-my iPhone 6+ lasted me for about a year before i felt the lag, and by lag i mean, HEAVY stuttering, taking about a minute to open my camera, cannot reply immediately coz my keyboard takes about 30 seconds to pop out, gallery takes forever to load and other minor fails. At its initial year, it was good. heck, it outperformed my fresh M8 back then. fastest phone I have used. But after 5,000+ photos and videos, about 600 songs, (my iPhone was 64gb by the way), i felt the lag. Initially I thought it was because of this, but after checking, i still have 13gb left in my memory so i don't think it was the problem. i resorted to resetting my phone, backing up in my laptop, and not transferring my backup just yet. after a week of use, it still lags as hell. this was the time i let my iPhone 6+ go and opt to go android again, since this time, Samsung released its S8 and S8+ variants. I ordered my S8+ and couldn't be happier until now.

-S8+, for the last 3 months, i haven't found any major stutters. it lags a bit, yes, but not those annoying lags everyone else says. after a tweak or two, haven't felt any lags.

my words are irrelevant to your decisions, i know. im just giving my two cents.

Beside the stock Google Pixel series, all other OEMs will lag over time. Basically, their cooked roms spoil the porridge. Also, OEMs cannot even promised prompt updates like Google itself. My brother has an S4, 3 years later no lags. There is even a maintenance tool under settings that allows you to clear junk files from the Nand memory; hence, speeding up the phone some more. So I don't know the lag you are talking about.
